The interior rear view mirror has temperature and compass displays, but only work for a short time at start- up.I have tried unplugging the harness on the back of the mirror and cleaning contacts. It`s...

Temperature Display
The inside rearview mirror supplies a 5 volt signal circuit and low reference circuit to the ambient air temperature sensor. The inside rearview mirror monitors and records the voltage on the signal circuit of the ambient air temperature sensor. The inside rearview mirror uses this recorded voltage to display the temperature on the temperature display portion of the compass/temperature display. The temperature display will show "ICE" when the ignition is first turned on and the current temperature is 3°C (37°F) or below. The display will toggle between "ICE" and the actual outside temperature for approximately 4 minutes.
The mirror will display "OC" if the mirror senses a temperature of less than -40°C (-40°F).
the mirror will display a "SC" if the mirror senses a temperature of greater than 112°C (143°F).

Replace the inside rearview mirror with compass. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement .

Temp reading on rearview mirror always says 0C

OC means open connection. Check connector at temperature sensor under the hood, it is located along the radiator support about at center position.

Temperature Sensor on Mirror is broken and reads OC.

Hello, my name is Be. You are correct, you most likely have a bad temperature sensor. The OC being displayed stands for "open circuit". You will need to replace the sensor, it's located at the front of your truck, under the hood, in front of the radiator, towards the top, usually on the driver's side. It really is a little hard to see because it doesn't look like much more than an ordinary bolt with two wires going to it. I think the new part is under $30.00 and it's easy to replace.

Why does my rear view mirror read OC

Open Circuit, check the wiring/connector from the mirror. If the connector is ok, you may have a bad outside temperature sensor, good luck.

The temperature display on the rear view mirror shows OC

The temperature display on the rear view mirror my 2002 Trailblazer LT is either way incorrect - like obviously too high or too low - but mostly just shows "OC" all the time. Is this an expensive fix? Is this an easy fix that I could do myself? What do I need to replace and how

Outside temperature on rearview mirror is sayin OC on 2002 envoy

Have you used the handy search feature? You would find that this is likely caused by one of 2 things. First, the ambient air temperature sensor may have gone bad. Secondly, wiring from the sensor to the mirror may have gone bad. Either way, you would get OC (which stands for OPEN CIRCUIT).

OC code in rear view mirror temp field

you could always try unplugging the battery for about ten minutes to see if that resets it. make sure you have the code for the stereo first if it requires one.
