You need at least 5 quarts of 5w30, a oil filter purlator pure 1 pl14536 or similar, a 1 1/4" short socket for filter and a 5/8 socket for the plug... (i use 32 mm and 15mm respectively) note the socket for the filter needs to be very short with an extension, or do what i did and buy a wrench and cut it off to fit. start by loosening the drain plug, then the filter cap to help the oil drain faster. then open the filler cap. once the oil is barely dripping put the new filter in the plastic filter cap and lube up the new o rings on the plastic and filter with some of the 5w30. then install it and reinstall the drain plug. once that is done place minimum 5 quarts of oil in the engine and run the car for 5 min or so. then check the level and add oil as necessary. *mine takes about 5.5 quarts to max line.

How do you check transmission fluid on a 2004 Cavalier? Can't find a dip dtick anywhere.

look above the trans, should be there, sometimes a different color. If no luck check your manual or look for one online, call a dealer. My 94 stick was yellow.

I have a 1999 chevy cavalier. what do i need to know/do to change the oil myself

you will need 5qts of 5w-30 oil and an oil filter. Go to an auto parts store and tell them the make model and year of your car and they will give you the right oil filter. Make sure to drain all the oil out then remove the oil filter. When putting the new oil filter in make sure to take some oil and put it on the sear of the oil filter. Screw the oil filter on hand tight and put the drain plug back in. Add oil to your motor, start with a little less then the owners manual says and start the car for a minute then turn off and check the oil level. Add and repeat till the oil level is correct.

Oil Pressure Light is on when ignition is turn on. I just did my oil change and still on. What are other possibilities that's going wrong with my 2004 chevy car? Please reply.

oil pressure is related to the oil sump pump not the quantity of oil. check the sump pump to see if it has enough pressure to thouroughly lift the oil

What type of plugs and wires do I put in my 2000 chevy cavalier and do I need both plugs and wires. I have 60,000 miles and just noticed a little missing in the engine and does my car need lubrication, I...

Go to any Auto supply store and they will know exactly which set of plaugs and wires you need.

The plugs come in all varieties, so pick the one you think you want, the most expensive are not always the best so don't get snowed.

Whoever told you your car doesn't need to be lubed is not the brightest bulb in the house.

Every vehicle needs to have a lube job, at least every 30,000 miles if not sooner (depending on how and where you drive).

A little tip for you..if you want to save money on the lube job, most garages (especailly dealers) will lube your vehicle if you have them change the oil for you, another little tid bit..buy your oil, and filter in advance, and just tell them you can't do the job....

They'll do the whole shi-bang for a couple bucks, just for the labor rates..shouldn't cost you more then $25.

With the money you're gonna save, think about switching to a synthetic oil..I t really will help your car's engine last longer, but this is a BIG point..once you switch to synthetic oil, you can never go back to regualr oil.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for letting FixYa.com....fix ya
