The hood latch on my 2002 Infiniti i35 has ''play'' in it which causes a metal on metal rattle when going over bumps. Am told that it cannot be adjusted and would have to be replaced to solve problem. Is that correct?

This may be the engine stabilizer mount motor. It can get stuck, and run all night. I had this happen recently. You can pull the fuse, but the car will not run as smoothly until you replace the stabilizer.
My 2002 I35 has the blower fuse under the hood in the fuse box in the engine compartment. The fuse box cover has the "key" or description of which fuse is which. If the blower fuse is bad and you replace it, only to have the fuse burn again then I would check the blower resistors that are located behind the glove box. Very common for one of these resistors to go bad causing only low speed operation of fan. Burns the fuse when you try to operate the fan on the higher speeds. Good Luck
The procedure goes like this. First get in the car and lock all the doors. Secondly insert and remove the key repeatedly until the turn signal indicators on the dash flash twice simultaneously, it should be like seven or eight times. Then turn the key on and press the lock button on the remote and the lights should flash again. After that turn the key off and manually unlock and open the drivers door, then shut it. Wait a few seconds then try the remote.
