2005 Dodge Durango v8

Our vehicle will not start... the first incident was two weeks ago.. we had a friend of ours take a look at it. they took the wires for the batteries off .. couple minutes later the dodge worked.. we think it's an computer problem.. our alarm for our truck sets off when we open the door manually.. we do this because the unlock and lock system on the key that you press doesn't work so we do it manually which sets off the alarm and for us to stop it we have to turn the car on to have it stop.. were thinking this is the problem.. yet we dont know how to or what to do..

Legally, you can not put an older motor into a newer vehicle due to emissions laws. You can always put a newer engine (usually manufactured to meet newer emissions specs) into an older vehicle, but not vice-versa. There's issues with the computer and vin # when you change from one factory engine to a different type as well.

My 2000 Durango 4.7 liter V8 starts fine, runs fine, but dies when it comes to a stop. I had my software and module redone 3 months ago and about 2 weeks ago it started shifting slow and hard. Then today...

Could be a bad catalytic converter. Have the exhaust back pressure checked. Check the fuel pressure & if possible, drive with the gauge on & see what happens when it dies. If the pressure is good, then it's not fuel. Write back if you have more issues.
