Here is a picture of the fuel filter location. If replacing filter does not fix the problem, check fuel pump pressure.

Hi

The fuel filter is located in the fuel tank with the fuel pump.

If the jeep is not throwing any codes i would do a good tune up and check the vacume lines for a posable vacume leak

the fuel filter is sold as a kit here is a link to buy it i would recomend a experienced shop do the job it is not very easy to do

Let me know if i can help more

Rough idle random cylinder misfire

misfires are more from problem injectors, low fuel pressure or injector wiring than from plugs
have a fuel pressure test done to check for problem pressure regulator , problem fuel pump , blocked m/dirty filter
one other area of concern is the EVAP system where the purge valve doesn't vent the tank properly and causes low fuel flow rates

Runs rough and stalling

Sounds to be related to a fuel or an ignition issue. Check out the history on the vehicles maintenance. Look at when the last COMPLETE tune-up was. Can check fuel line pressure, for a clogged CAT or defective muffler. If the engine light is on while it is running then you have stored code/s, if so then have them read. This will help you in finding the source of your Jeep's problem.

Sounds like your idle air control valve is going bad.  It is located on your throttle body and is held in with two screws.  Let me know if you have any other questions.  Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

93 grand cherokee has a very rough idle what could be the problem

Also check the vaccum hose from the fuel pressure regulator to the intake manifold, it is right on top, to the front right of the valve cover where the fuel lines attach to the fuel rail, there is a small vaccum hose that runs from the regulator to the intake manifold, I have a 93 grand cherokee limited w/ 4.0L 6cyl, it was hard to start at times, wouldnt start at times without starting fluid spray and had your symptoms at idle, running rough like it wanted to stall like it was out of gas, I had various opinions ranging from fuel pump was bad to the fuel filter to the fuel presure regulator, the fuel pump relay ,etc....after replacing the relay and having the same symptoms, some digging brought me to this vaccum hose, wich had a break in it, when it was replaced it allowed the regulator to have the correct fuel pressure output and solved all the afforementioned problems way cheaper than the suggested alternitives. good luck.
