Hello
Sounds like there could be a problom of over torking the axle shaft nut that goes on the axle shafe after it goes threw the bearing, It should be torked to 140 foot pounds, some times the mechanic will use the impact to tighten it and over tighten the nut,
Let me know if i can help more

the link shows all years, and variances.

here is a photo review, that is accurate up to
1998, and beyond , if you skip the bearing service parts. as yours are INTEGRATED
and NON-serviceable.

the photo 6a and B
shows removing the hub,
so do that , buy a new hub and put it back
the same way, using the tool stated
at the stated ranges of torque
123-180 ft/lbs.
this range allows you to get the screws into the locking rings.

Replace front wheel bearing 2009 Honda accord

Hello James.
I don't wish to insult you but replacing the front wheel bearing of a front wheel drive vehicle requires the sort of tool kit and skill level that if you need to ask how you do you do it you are unlikely to possess.

By the time a wheel bearing needs replacing it has been subjected to years of heat, cold and moisture and removing the bearing from the hub can be fraught with difficulties not covered by an average repair manual, difficulties which needs experience and equipment to overcome.
As if that isn't bad enough the work needed to clean and prepare the hub to accept the new bearing needs the realisation the assembly is a piece of precision equipment requiring very high standards if the replacement bearing is to have the best chance of returning a good life-span. This is also true of actually fitting the new bearing where if pressure isn't applied correctly it can be ruined in a second or have it's working life seriously shortened.

I suggest you ask an experienced someone else to fit the bearing this time while you observe.

How to replace wheel bearing on 1996 ford explorer

Is it a 2 wheel drive of 4 wheel drive explorer?? I'm going to take a shot in the dark and go with 4x4. Remove the cotter pin and axle nut. Then jack up and brace the vehicle. Remove the front tire (since you said wheel bearing and not axle bearing), caliper, caliper bracket, and the three bolts on the back of the spindle that hold in the bearing and hub. Slide the hub and bearing out. May take a couple of taps with a hammer.

I have a 2001 kia rio, we have replaced front wheel bearing a combined total of 12 times and it only has 81000 miles on it. one are the other goes out about every 10000 miles.can we replace the older axle...

well not sure what you mean by one piece assm. becuase all front wheel drive cars require one shaft and two c/v joints on either end.

but i think i have a hunch of the problem and them most common cause for failure after a replacement is over tighting of the axle nut. what happens is it crush's the bearing and cut's it's life.

I have had the left front wheel bearing replaced 2 times in lest than 30,000 miles why do they keep going bad they used 2 differnt brands ( 2002 cavalier

The most common cause of bearing failure is improper installation. 2nd is OVER lubrication. Or there may be some damage to the axle or hub assembly.

Have owned 2 2006 altimas and both have had roaring noise like a wheel bearing going out in right rear

It may be caused by a bad wheel bearing. To be sure, try to swap the 4 wheels and see if there would be changes in the noise location. If it does change, the noise may be from the tires that are not worn out evenly.

Wheel bearings, front & rear struts

In my humble opinion, I would say this is not normal wear and tear. If it were me I would get a 2nd opinion. I have been driving for over 40 years and I do not remember the last time I had to replace a wheel bearing. I'm not saying it can't happen but another opinion would be worth the nominal cost.

And if the answer is a strong "it's not needed" I would find another mechanic than the one that gave you the estimate

Hope this helps Loringh

My 99 Alero has had the left front hub assembly repalaced for the fourth time in 2 1/2 years. I had it replaced three weeks ago and it has the same problem again and needs to be replaced again. Any idea...

Is the wheel bearing failing or the wheel sensor inside? Is the vehicle totally stock or does it have aftermarket whells on it? Some aftermarket wheels have the wrong offset and put excessive strain on the hubs if you have the wrong wheels change back to the factory wheels and see if your problem goes away.
