Question about Oldsmobile Aurora

1 Answer

The car runs great but shuts off as soon as you shift and step on the gas pedal will move no more than 15-20 feet when it shuts off. Replaced throttle positioning sensor which I was told was bad. Was told that the vacuum line on the fuel regulator doesn't need hooked up right away either. But it was hooked up when we replaced that either, Can't even find where it would go. Told to also check valve air flow sensor and egr valve. CAn you help so we aren't ripping the entire car apart?

OK, out of all of these parts on an Oldsmobile Aurora dealing with driveability issues, I would start with the EGR system, both vacuum and electrical aspects of the system.

Also, if there are ANY codes in the computer it would be good to know what they are.

If you want to diagnose it yourself, go to Walmart and purchase a CanOBDII scanner that has english explanations of the codes on your OBD-II compliant car. It costs only $98 plus tax in my area.

Just put batteries in it (2 AA) and hook the cable up to the car on one end and the scanner on the other, and it will tell you a lot about what's going on in your engine.

Hope this helps.

My 2001 Buick Regal will only start if press the gas pedal, when I release the gas pedal to step on the brake the engine shuts off. Any Ideas?

Could be a dirty throttle body or a faulty idle air control valve.
The computer controls idle speed by regulating the amount of air entering the intake thru the throttle body.

2004 expedition will not shift out of park. The car starts but I cannot get the gear shift lever to move to reverse

sadly this could be several different electrical issues on the cheap side. this vehicle has a shift interlock which will not allow the vehicle to shift without the brake depressed. it operates an electric solenoid that pulls a pin to unlock the shifter. its a SLIGHT possibility that it could be a bad fuse. i hope you r that lucky and this helps in some way

Service with the wrench sybols appears, what needs to be corrected and how do I reset the indicator

1998 Saturn SL1 5 Speed everything manual except Cruise Control. Run Great. Every time I start it, it goes through it's check cycle and comes back GOOD. But as soon as I move approximately 20 feet the SERVICE Wrench Light comes on and stays on until the car is shut off. This happens every time, doesn't matter if I go forward or reverse. All checks have turned up nothing. No codes. I checked the wiring and have found nothing. I have checked and replaced any and all bulbs, including the ash tray bulb. I have replaced the Cool Fan Relay. And still the problem exist. Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated.
