Question about 2003 Chevrolet Suburban 1500

1 Answer

Don't know if it's an ECU issue. My Sub keeps acting like it's going to stall at stop lights. I notice a dip in the power, and when the AC is on, as a result of that power loss, the compressor goes with it??

It's hard to say exactly what it could be without looking at it, but I would have the alternator checked out. Reason is, when the car is at idle at a red light or stop the alternator may not be putting out enough of power to perform the a/c and other things it has to power. But as you go down the road, the alternator will put out more power keeping the a/c and engine from trying to cut out or off. It's something I would try plus it's free to have it checked.

2007 PT Cruiser with 85K miles. When ac is on and at stop light or stop sign for short period it will stall. What is the issue

For some time now chryslers have had many operational issues come about due to very, very poor air circulation under the hood which evermore has lead to the early demise of many an ECU, both trans and engine. This is your most likely culprit. The computer is most likely overheating and falsely producing an error code to shut down your vehicle to prevent an over-heating issue that it is misreading.

Everytime i turn on my ac unit the car starts acting up for example when i break at a stop light and pause it jerks and rattles somewhat!

Clean the inside of the throttle body along with IAC both in front of the throttle plate and behind the throttle plate, you can tilt with your fingers or pull on the accelerator cable. Everything should be spotless. If the Idle Air control (IAC) is dirty clean this too, if possible disconnect it and unbolt it from the the throttle body. Again spotless. The reason I suggest this is that the ECU calls on the IAC when the AC comes on to pick up the revs as the engine is now being presented with additional work in running the compressor. If the IAC passageways between the air duct and inlet manifold via the IAC valve or in anyway blocked this will reduce the ability for the engine to keep running and may stall

Take it back to them and tell them whats happening
They will scan the ECU for codes and address it accordingly. It could be a defective sensor, improper installiation or an additional code on another issue that could be triggering this particular sensor to act up.
If it turns out to be a defective replacement sensor hopefully its under warranty. If its a dealer part 1 year 12k warranty. Aftermarket.......God only knows... Good luck

When i turn on my heat my 2004 trailblazer stalls

if this happens while the defrost of ac is turned on, it could be a seized ac compressor which will cause the serpentine belt to squeal and drag making the engine sometimes stall. if it happens with the ac off and the selector on say the floor, or dash vents, the issue could be a bad alternator and battery. this is confirmed when the blower motor engages and the lights dim and then the truck goes dead.

i have found 2 areas that cause issues such as you are reporting.
one is poor voltage. check the connection at the starter motor between the alternator and the battery.
the other and perhaps more likely is a wet ECU.

the ecu box is under the windshield on the passenger side, access under the hood. this are can get wet ad corrode an ECU.

remove the ecu, take the bottom plate off and clean any corri=oded and wet areas with alcohol and a tooth gentle.
i would look for a way of mounting the ecu so that it doesn't lay on a flat surface that gets wet...

I have a 95 Talon with the same motor but manual. My car was doing the same thing and I narrowed it down to the ECU cutting power to the ASD. So basically it was being told to do this. The only things that I know that cause this is the CAS, CPS. Get a multimeter and test the middle prong of the coil connector with key to ON. Should be 12v. When it stalls does it not start up for a few minutes? When it wont immediately restart check the coil power again and if 0 with key to ON then your ECU is cutting off or ASD is going bad. Either ADS or the problem was your crankshaft position sensor is bad most likely. Will appear as though ECu is going out.

94 Carava Acts like its out of gas possible electrical brownout

The cause of the low compression could be a valve is not completly sealing or bad piston rings. Depending on weather you have blue smoke out the exaust. If not then I'm sure you have a valve that is not completly sealing. Not some thing to just let go, first try Z-Max. Z-max helps get rid of carbon deposits in the engine.

The relays that you hear clicking away are the problem Im sure. more than one occasion I have seen the relays go out and cause this problem.

The reason the lights dim and the blower slows is the reduction of voltage the alternator is puting out. When the other problem is fixed then this new one will dissappear.

Try cleaning the throttle position sensor like you said. If the contact is dirty it will not run right.

Please let me know if your problems presist.

Thanks, Charlie
