1997 dodge Dakota pickup truck. it stalls sometimes at idle, and running down the road 70 mph it just cuts out, and dies.

Start with the most basic item: check your compression. Low compression gets lower when an engine gets warm.

I have a 1999 dodge ceruis. I quit running going down the highway at 70 mph. It was very low of oil. Do the have a ciser shut down system

You are fortunate that the engine still cranks. If it overheated when it shut down it is possible that some of the electrical components may have been burned out.

And if you did permanent damage it is possible that now the engine is not cranking fast enough to start.

Good luck.

When iam driving my 1998 dakota down the road it says iam going 0 mph code 500 is on

Your vehicle has an electronic speedometer. Either the sensor is bad in the transmission, or you have a wiring problem.

You can try replacing the sensor, but I would test all the circuits first.... if you can find a wiring diagram.

Was going down the road an my truck cut off.it turns over but no fire

When it cranks over does it sound normal or does it sound like you have no compression? You may have a broken timing chain.

I keep getting a misfire code on cyl 8 in a 5.2 dodge dakota

it sounds to me like your ignition coil pack is going bad. or if it is a distributor type engine, it will be your distributor cap and rotor button. but first take the number 8 spark plug wire off and check for spots where the wire has touched the exhaust manifold.

My Dodge Dakota began acting up today, as I am driving into town I had to accelerate in order to pass some farmer on a tractor pulling liquid manure to his neighbors field. My vehicle began to seemingly...

The distributor is for injector timing, not spark other
than the wires go through the cap

e.g. you don't move the dist --- it is set with a volt meter
so the hall effect sensor works for the injectors

SO,you had a timing chain installed, maybe the work
wasn't quite what you expected

1988 Chevy Truck suddenly stopped running while running 60 mph down the highway. Just quit. Now the engine turns, but doesn't fire. Tried starting fluid. Won't fire. Check spark, and I have spark. So...

If you're certain you have spark then try the starting fluid again strait into the throttle body with someone immediately starting it. Your compression may be another issue to look at but this is uncommon to stop you while running down the road. You might want to check the compression though. Take off a valve cover to confirm that the valves are still moving to help rule out a broken timing chain.

1999 Dodge Ram van 1500 no pick up power

I had a similiar problem on my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Conversion Van. It ended up being a partial collapse of the catalytic converter which didn't allow adequate exhaust. The problem only showed itself because I could not get over 55 mph going up a small hill.
