What you need to do is get the codes from the Electronic Brake Control Module,(ebcm). This will tell you what wheel is making the light go on.Could be a sensor or wiring to the sensor or the EBCM.Generally the brake pads or shoes themselves will not cause the anti lock brake light to come on.If you post back with the codes I can help you out with diagnosing the problem.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Brake light and abs light on. I start engine, step on peddle,it goes to floor, then light go out and brakes ok

It could be a faulty brake master cylinder though your description does remind me of a car that had the disc pads wrongly fitted and the anti-rattle springs were pushing the pads away from the discs instead of providing resistance.

A similar symptom can be experienced when a wheel bearing has excess free play and pushes the pads away from the disc.

I would use a hose clamp and isolate each brake in turn until the brake pedal operation is normal. If no clamping operation makes a significant difference I would then clamp two, three and then four hoses when if there is still no difference I would suspect the master cylinder or the basic brake pedal and servo adjustments.

Changed master cylinder and both rear cylinders cannot get fluid to rear cylinders

Proper bleeding is needed here. If its brakes with ABS, you need to bring it to a shop. Without ABS the process is simple. have someone pump the brake about 3 times and hold it in on the 3rd press (also to follow the brake pedal in while releasing the bleeder screw located on the rear of the brake plate/panel). Repeat process until no air bubbles are exiting bleeder screw.

Hope this helps someone :-)

Why are only two of my brakes working on my 98 bonneville pontiac?

This is a litlle strange as the master cylinder has the brakes usually set up with the fronts together and the rears together. you can see if the caliper on the front is siezed and the master cylinder frozen on the rear wheel. Does the car have ABS and if so have the lights come on

No pressure on brake pedal 95 suburban 2500 4x4 7.4L

try bleeding your ABS block first, if that doesn not work could need a master or proportioning vavle. Some scan tools are capable of bleeding the ABS system on some vehicles, and some you have to bleed manually.

2006 HYUNDAI Sonata I figured I'd bleed the the rear brakes after replacing the rotors and pads. 120,000 Miles with no previous brake issues besides normal replacement of front rotors and pads. After...

Try re-bleeding ALL wheels starting with furthest away - pass rear, then driv rear, then pass front and driv front. That should get your pedal back. To reset light you need ABS reset tool and it's EXPENSIVE. Have a good competent shop reset it for you. Body shops can reset them also.

How to bleed the brakes on a1999 chevrolet venture van instaslled new brake pads on front tired to bleed brake pedal all the way up when van not running - goes to floor when van is running

Start with brake in the rear that is the farthest away from the master cylinder ( if your master cylinder is on drivers side start with passenger rear, pump up brake pedal until hard have someone else open bleeder valve until air or fluid squirts out, while holding brake pressure even if goes to the floor dont release pedal until bleeder valve is tightened or you will **** air back into the line,do this several times making sure you get a full stream of brake fluid and no air, continue to other rear wheel and then proceed to front wheel furthest from master cylinderand then final wheel. if you still don't have brakes change master cylinder and bleed all brakes again.
