U should check for a faulty thermostat first, they are only a few quid and easily replaced. if no change ur most likely faults are a blocked radiator or faulty water pump. u dont sayhow old ur van is but after the thermostat go to the radiator, when its hot check the bottom of the rad to make sure its hot, also brown water means u need to bback flush ur cooling system. even tho u have changed some sensors doesnt mean u got the fan switch sender, dash board sender and fan sender tend to be different sensors, so just double check.

Why does my fan always run intermittently? During traffic jams my fan will run about 25 times intermittently, and I check my temperature it is still normal?

sounds like problem with the temperature sensor or relay that controls the fan(if electric) check the sensor and relay one may need to be replaced.

Dodge spirit troubleshooting

If it overheats while driving more than 25 miles an hour, the thermostat is bad. If it overheats while stuck in traffic only, either the fan motor or the temperature sensor/switch that controls the fan to operate is bad. This temperature sensor/switch is installed on the radiator. It screws into a threaded hole.

Temperature guage not working and engine overheated when stopped in trafic

The powertrain computer turns the fans on through the cooling fan relays, based on information from the coolant temperature sensor. The fans will only come on when the coolant temp. is pretty high-varies by manufacturer, but it is over 200 degrees, some as much as 230 degrees. So the fans will not come on when engine is started, but they should come on before the engine overheats. You should have them checked. Also find out if the temp. gauge sending unit is separate and different from the coolant temperature sensor-on most cars, they are separate, maybe not on yours?

first check coolant level in radiator coolant level sound low.if coolant overflow jug empty.coolant sysyem low, when add coolant to coolant overflow jug coolant level should stay at full cold mark.if coolant level okay, engine overheat while sitting or moving in slow traffic either coolant fan relay or fuse could be bad.or engine coolant temperature sensor could be bad. coolant sensor turn on cooling fan at certain temperature.hot wire check to make sure cooling fan motor not bad or short in wires.if all is good have pcm check it controls fan relay to through the coolant temperature sensor signal when coolant get hot.

Did you burp the air out of the system After replacing the parts? If not, you have air bubbles. Click my screenname and go to my tips & tricks - I did a writeup on how to do this.

My engine temp gauge goes way up when the car is stuck in traffic, when I begin to roll the temperature gauge goes back down. I assume that this is a sensor issue, can this be changed easily?

I would assume that the sensor is probably doing EXACTLY what it is designed to do....measure engine temperature! An engine will get hot when sitting in traffic if the radiator cooling fans are not working. The engine temperature will then go back down when the vehicle starts moving and air begins to flow through the radiator.
Get your radiator cooling fans checked!

Cannot get cooling fans to turn on for radiator???

The cooling fans won't run until either the engine coolant temperature reaches about 218 degrees or the air conditioner/defroster are on. Once the engine reaches appx 218 degrees the fan will come on and run until the coolant temperature drops a few degrees and will then turn back off. If either the a/c or defrost are turned on then the cooling fan will begin to run to remove the heat from the a/c system and should stay on until either is turned off. If the engine is overheating in slow or stop and go traffic then the fan may not be working at all due to a bad fan motor or blown fuse.
