You can try using graphite powder in the ignition switch if you can remove the key,put the powder on the key & push it in & out to work the powder into the switch, don't use any spray type lubricants as this only attracts dust & clogs the switch up even more....hope this helps.....cheers

Sounds like your ignition/key tumbler is worn. A lot of times tumblers can get worn to the point that the keys will stop working or work sometimes. Usually the key goes bad first, since they tend to get the most abuse. It is not expensive to replace. I hope this helps.

Key stuck ignition truck still runing

remove the ground cable from the battery and buy a new key lock cylinder for your ignition. The tumblers have jambed up and they are not rebuildable for the money they cost are cheap

I imagine that they tried jamming a screw driver or something into the ignition. You will most probably need a new key and tumbler

Key stuck in on position cant turn car off

This sounds like a warn ignition lock. The tumblers probably are warn down and have too much slop so the unit is jamming. Try wiggling the key around as you turn. Good luck.

99 GMC Sierra Pickup: Crank but no start. starts with starting fluid but dies. changed out the fuel filter. still not start. Do I have a bad Fuel Pump? Security light flashes then goes solid after 10 min....

The theft light issue is a good observation. Have you replaced the key tumbler or an ignition component lately? Has there been a lightning storm close very recently?

What the flashing security light is indicating is an attempt to relearn the key you are using.
Turn the key to run position, allow light to flash for 10 minutes, when light stops flashing turn ignition to OFF position for 5 seconds, turn ignition to run position and start over. Do this for 3 consecutive cycles, the the theft system will relearn the key cylinder code and store it once again.
Try that first before you go any further.
Let me know what you find.

How do I remove the key tumbler 96 gmc pickup?

Most often the lack of spring back is not the key and tumbler set itself. There is no spring back in the tumbler but rather the internal area of the column- you can determine this by cylinder removal if you know how to remove. A 96 is most often what they consider a 10 cut side bar ignition. by diconnecting your battery and removing some shroud around the ignition. You will need to turn the key to crank postion and hold it their in order to depress the retainer that holds the cylinder in place, located top ignition.( Retainer small hole area)
While depressing retainer pull cylinder out -and you will have lock in hand for you to examine.
