Hi this sounds like the big ends are on there way out, these are the parts that connect the piston conrods to the engine crank, when the bearing wear this causes a gap between the conrod connection to the crank and that will give you the knocking noise, the low oil pressure is also an affect of this problem as the pressure is reduced as the engine is running, there are 2 ways to cure this both unfortunatley are expensive, first, complete engine change, which would be better to do, or a repair or replacement of the conrod bearings, dependent on how much they have warn or even how much the crank has warn if they are really bad then it would be a replacement of all the parts...hope this helps please vote thanks

There is a knocking sound in my engine

sounds like a rod is knocking, check oil to make sure it is full. If it has plenty of oil then if it checks out ok, you probable need new engine.

I have a Rover 75 (1.8 K-Series engine). It overheated and had to get the cylinder head reconditioned. Upon installation and testing, it showed a red warning light (Low oil pressure). Now when i start

Well I would check the oil pump and make sure it is working. Verify all wording is connected. It only takes 1 missed connection to create issues for you.

Bad oil pump

If the engine is not making loud valve train sounds or rod knocking sounds, consider changing the oil pressure sender.

Oil change on a 2002 ford taurus was overfilled by a mechanic today and in about 11 miles after driving thye lifters where knocking and the crankshaft. be advised this car has 55000 miles and is in perfect...

Overfilling your crankcase with oil can have disastrous effects on your engine.
If the oil level is high enough that the crankshaft passes through it on every rotation it will soon aerate the oil in the oil pan. The air bubbles will travel through the oil pump and into your engine. Air bubbles in your lubrication system will starve your engine bearings and quickly lead to engine failure.
If the engine is already knocking, then the damage may be done.

Oil light stays on and car has enough oil but there is a noise coming from engine when you start it and when you are driving

This doesn't sound good. If the noise sounds like a knock, and it's more prononce under the car, your rod/rods are knocking. You might want start pricing some used engines and what it will cost to get it installed. then check book price on the car and see if it's worth the money to fix.

Oil level light stays blinking on toyota previa 1993

most of these models have 2 oil lights. The red one is oil pressure,if flashing or on when engine is running,it is usually serious.check oil level, but usually caused by blocked pickup screen(a common toyota fault) when services aren't done. The orange oil light is tripped by an oil level sensor on the side of the sump when the oil level is low.If the oil level is ok,note this is a common fault especially if oil changes have been missed,and/or a petrol engine oil used and sludge builds up,sometimes using an additive for flushing prior to oil change can help, but may not work on 1st oil change.

Knocking sound

Knocking sound is bad and most likely time for a new engine. The knocking noise your are hearing is the pistons knocking against the engine block when it goes up and down.

Inspect the level of your engine oil to make sure you have enough oil in there.

Thank you for using fixya and good luck

I have loud knocking sound when the throttle is pressed down halfway or more, and the knocking gets louder the further I press the pedal. However, the engine idles fine and accelerates smoothly at low...

Make sure you have enough oil in the engine (though it's likely too late) If you have knocking and oil light on, sorry to say, you likely have lost a rod or crank main bearing (engine needs to come out of car and completely apart (very expensive) Options are a re-manufactured or scrapyard replacement.

Oil light came on and there is a knocking sound

It sounds as if you seized the motor due to lack of oil ( very easy to prevent too bad you never checked the oil level )
