Start by changing your fuel filter. If this doesn't help have someone check your fuel pressure.

I have a 1972 Lincoln Continental I'm having a problem starting actually it will start but it keeps cutting out can you tell me how to adjust the timing thank you

Timing doesn't sound like the problem. If your having a problem with it dying, and then having a hard time re-starting(Quit in traffic etc) Have to pump the gas pedal, and finally restarts, sounds like a fuel problem. Hope that helps.

MY truck is fuel injected what would make it so i have to hold down gas pedal to finally get it to start then die

Sounds like you have some injector problems or the fuel pressure regulator. If the check engine light is not on, I would look for something allowing extra fuel into the engine.

When i start my car, i have to push the gas pedal down for about three minutes for it to start

its fuel injected so your pedal shouldnt have anything to do with why its taking 3 min to crank.if it finally starts it might be a bad fuel pump or crank position sensor.

bring this to a service repair center an have a fuel pressure gauge hooked up to sounds like the check valve in the fuel system is allowing the gas to drain back into the fuel tank, when u press the gas pedal it commands the fuel pump to pump extra gas into the system filling the fuel rails back up with fuel allowing it to start faster....

I have an 20005 acura mdx and it wouldn't start for several attempts. after about 5 mins it started rt up and has not done that again. The horn would blow and there were no indicator lights on. Could...

Sounds like it was flooded. Next time it happens. keep gas pedal all the way to the floor and hold until it fires. water in the gas, or just bad gas can do this. But if you pumped it at all while trying to start it if fuel injected can flood it. Let it sit and try again, or keep gas pedal to ground and hold until starts.

There is a gas smell on our 92 voyager. The leak appears to be from the tank. Now it won't start and battery is drained. Why won't it start?

I had a leaky gas hose at the rear of the tank near the top. The rubber had just finally worn out. Once the leak is fixed and gas added back to the car, it will take several tries to start it because of air and the fuel pump has to get gas pumped back up. Recharge the battery, turn key over and listen for pump to kick in. Pump the pedal once, then try to start it. Don't over pump the gas pedal or you will flood the motor.

My santa fe has problems starting back up after

if you pumped more gas after the handle shut off then you caused an issue by over filling. this happens to alot of cars when you try to get every once in the tank.

When I don't start it for a day, it becomes really hard to start. It tries to start but it never turns over, I have to hit the gas pedal repeatedly. It may back fire a few times but it will eventually...

Try pumping the gas pedal 3 to 4 times before starting your car. If that does'nt work, check your automatic chock, it might not be opening up.

Has a hard time starting. Seems like no gas

"Seems" is a bad word when doing testing...You need real pressure tests done with a gauge attached to the fuel rail. I hope you kept the pump submerged in fuel when you ran it off the battery...they will quickly fail if run without cooling and lubrication provided by fuel ...many failures can be traced to running tank low a lot or running out of fuel for that very reason (also dangerous...spark near fuel can start a fire!!! )
