Question about Cars & Trucks

The ac clutch burnt out in my 2002 dodge caravan sport. I think it was the result of the engine mount bracket that broke and put a strain on the belts. I want to know if this is what caused the ac to blow only hot air?

I would think that it was more likely that some wires shorted due to the strain caused by the broken motor mount and that short circuit is what burned the clutch coil out. With the coil not energizing, the electromagnet that pulls the clutch together and engages it, will not function. The pulley is turning, but the compressor isn't. The end result is if the compressor is not turning, no AC.

Dodge caravan engine noise

It's hard to come up with a solution for this one without actually "feeling" the symptoms. I assume that what you're describing is that you can feel vibration coming from the engine. I suggest that you have the engine mounts checked.

Also, make sure the mount that sits just behind the radiator has rubber in the middle of it where the bolt goes through. On some models, the rubber mount is attached to the frame (which attaches to a bracket on the engine). On other models, the rubber part is attached to the engine (which attaches to a bracket on the frame).

I've seen cases where the mechanic had a bracket on the engine and another bracket on the frame. Instead of the mechanic removing one of the brackets and replacing it with the rubber mount, they would just align the two brackets together and run the bolt through them.

This causes the vibration to be transferred directly from the engine to the frame. This will also put stress on the exhaust pipe causing it to eventually break because the engine is not seated properly. The engine will be tilted slightly to the rear...

My 97, 5.2 runs 200 without AC, if I turn on AC, it goes to 220. Replaced clutch fan, thermostat, water pump, and new cap. Backflushed block and radiator. No results. Why so hot? Only 92K on unit.

dodges run like that. if your worried put a 180 degree thermostat in. maybe even a 160 . wont hurt engine or fuel mileage . my 99 dodge ram 1500 sport runs fine with 160 degree one. hope it helped , good luck

My ac stay on when i try to turn it off and it is eating my gas i have a dodge caravan 2002

engine wiring harness problem. look for large connector at drivers side of intake manifold.wiring to the fuel injectors decay and short to the other wires [a.k.a. ac hi psi switch] backfeeding voltage to ac,engine sensors. will result if unchecked in major computer and wiring harness failure.

the mount under the radiator sounds like it is worn out or the bracket holding the mount to the transmission is broken.

First suggestion is the clutch not engaging. Check voltage at clutch plug and confirm power source, if there is power there then clutch would work unless it has failed.
