My mercedes is a 1998 ml320 it ran out of gas in the yard it is slightly tilted down in the front put gas in got a new battery but it want start what could it be have this happen to anyone else

You may have burned out the electric fuel pump, here is why.

The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank, it sits in the gas and that is what cools the tiny pump and what lubricates it, so if you ride around very low on fuel or run out of gas this can destroy the pump very quickly. Check you fuel pressure at the engine test port located on the top of the engine on the injector supply pipe most likely, I will bet you have no pressure.

Then your fuel pump is not working, or your fuel filter is blocked. You will probably have to check your fuel pump circuit if you have no fuel pressure in the fuel rail, where the injectors sit. There is a fuse for the pump, usually in the under hood fuse/relay block. That is probably also where the fuel pump relay is located. You should hear or feel this relay click when the ignition key is cycled from off to on. Also, when the key is turned to on, you should hear the fuel pump in the gas tank turn on for about 2 seconds. This will put the pressure in the gas in the fuel rail, for starting the engine. If you don't hear the pump turn on for that 2 second period, it is probably a bad fuel pump. But know the fuse is good first.

Mercedes E220, I have a whirring sound coming from rear passenger side when engine is running both when the car is stationary and moving. (it sounds like its coming from fuel tank?)

Your fuel pump is going bad or is being overworked by a partially clogged fuel filter. Change the filter and if you still hear the whine, then the pump will fail at any time.

Old j reg mercedes 230te wont start

Check Injectors spraying Fuel when you start. Fuel pump prime because you hear the pump. IF pump is weak, then your Fuel distributor doesn't have correct pressure to spray fuel when injectors open. Do your sparks plug wet after trying several times. If they are dry then you don't have fuel. Replace injectors If they are wet then you don't have correct air:gas ratio of 14.6:1. Replace Fuel distributors

2001 E220 CDI exhaust tail pipe black smoke on acceleration

Black smoke is almost always an indication that the air/ fuel mix (ratio), is too rich. I would try to find out if the just cleaned the injectors or were they replaced. Cleaning injectors and sometimes leave irregularly shaped orifices. Besure the air filter is clean. This can effect mix also.
Good Luck and hope this helps.
