That light is an indicator that the required miles have been drove and it's time to do an oil change. The light should be reset after every oil change as the computer keeps track of the miles to warn you when it's time again should you forget.
If you want to turn the light off then follow these steps.
Push and hold the trip button and then turn the ignition to on while holding the trip reset button. Keep holding for 10 seconds and the maintenance required light will go offf.
1. To reset MAINT reminder light after engine oil replacement, turn ignition switch to OFF position with odometer reading showing. Turn ignition switch to ON position while holding down trip meter RESET button. 2. Hold trip meter RESET button down for at least 5 seconds. The maintenance required light is there to remind you that your oil change is due. This light needs to be reset after the oil ic changed, it is manually reset. If you just had your oil changed, the light will not go off by itself. The light is designed to illuminate after 5,000 miles since the last reset procedure.
The maintenance required light does not indicate any problem with the engine or systems like a Check Engine Light (CEL) does. This light is normally a reminder to change the oil. Getting the light to turn off is really easy.
In order, follow these steps:
1. Press and hold down the trip odometer reset button.
2. Turn the key to the on position without starting the engine.
3. Continue to hold down the reset button; The light should go out within 10-15 seconds.
this light can come on even thought service is not actually due. if the service was performed and the light was not on at the time, sometimes you cannot reset them if they are not actually lit, or 99% of the time the technician forgets if the light was not on. stop by your shop and they can reset it for you in just a few moments, and for no charge. good luck!
Most likely it means that the mechanic didn't bother to reset the service interval after changing the oil.
You can do this yourself by hitting the Step button until you see 0 miles until Service displayed, then hold the reset button until it changes to 3000 miles.
I belive they didn't reset the oil light timer. I belive the sequence is 1. key on (not acc with engine off)
2. step on the brake pedal 5 times within 10 seconds. 3. key off. 4. start car. 5. check if the light went out. you may have to try it a few times to get it.
To reset the light,
Turn the ignition on Make sure the odometer displays "ODO" 1.Turn the key off 2.Press and hold down the same button you use to get to "ODO" 3.Turn the key back to ON ( while still holding down the button) 4.Hold the button in until all the flashing lines on the odometer go away and the bunch of "000000" shows up and the maint reset light will turn off. Your'e done.
If this doesn't work, you would have to try it on "trip A" instead of "ODO".
