When truck is in motion going down the road gauge is all over from empty to full when stoped it reads properly

Your gas tank has a float inside that is kart if tne. Fuel. Pump assembly that indicates the amount of fuel in the tank..it sends a message to the gauge...sounds like the float is sticking when the gas is sloshing around when moving..causing a false read being sent to the gauge. Most times the tank has to be removed to replace..good luck..

Gas gauge not reading

I would not post my email address on a website for the public to see.
The sending unit in the tank grounds the gauge with a resistor. The more gas in the tank the less resistance in the circuit. Someone would need to unplug the wiring harness at the tank and check the circuit with a meter.

2004 nissan sentra have problem pumping gas

When you're pumping gas, does it stop you at the end, when the tank is nearly full, or is it not letting you pump gas at all? And how does the fuel gauge read after you've added gas? If it stops you and it still says the tank isn't full, it could just be that the float in your tank that connects to the gauge is wrong.

Gas?

If could possibly be the gauge getting stuck (unlikely), but it is probably the "Fuel Sending Unit" in the gas tank. Basically, it is a float on an arm connected to a sensor. That's what "reads" the amount of fuel in the tank, and reports it to the guage. If you are lucky, it's a separate unit, and an easy fix around $100. Here is a good article. http://autorepair.about.com/library/a/1a/bl640a.htm
If you are unlucky (Like I usually am), it's built-in to the fuel pump and requires a whole new fuel pump for $300+.

What kind and how do you fix to where the gas gauge reads correctly in a 2001 Chevy blazer LS 4x4 4 door?

If it isn't the gauge in the dash then it will be the fuel level sesnor in the gas tank. This will require dropping the tank to getvat it. Not a cheap'repair, part is cheap, labor won't be so shop around. I know some guys have just got a tank from salvage then they could just swap out the whole thing quickly.

Is there a relay for the gas gauge on a 1995 ford contour

Normally no. The fuel gauge reads by resistance, the position of the float in the fuel tank, that voltage is directly sent to the gauge. There is also usually a warning light that operates off of this same system but it reports when the float level is extremely low only.

If the gauge isn't working, you may want to inspect the wiring harness at the fuel tank to make sure everything is intact, nothing frayed, pulled loose, or broken under there. If the pump has been replaced, sometimes the fuel float gets into a bind when installed improperly.

Usually the only other thing that has an impact on the fuel gauge is the ground circuit to the dash display.

Good luck !

Gas gauge does not read well below half tank

More than likely a floater issue!! This is located within the gas tank and mounted to the fuel pump. It sends a unique signal depending on the amount of fuel within the tank determining fuel gauge readings. Its very possible the unit is defective causing improper gauge readings.

Fuel gauge changes the amount of gas shown on dash gauge when below half. with engine running in park, gauge went from half to full then to light signaling low. put gas in tank(5 gallons)now shows over...

The fuel sender is in the tank and is part of the fuel pump module ( all in one). the fuel sender is a rheostat and is like a dimmer switch in you home to dim lights, the higher the level of fuel the more voltage the computer sees hence the lower the fuel the lower the voltage it sees. With the age of the car this is likely the problem. But there is a part in the instrument cluster that reads this voltage and sends power to the gauge intermittently. In older cars it was called a anti slosh module. It was there because as the car went up and down a bumpy road the gauge would read erratically. the cost can be prohibitive to fix this but if you can live with it i would. If not expect to spend 600 dollars or more to trace it down and fix it.

HI, MY FUEL GAUGE WORKS BUD ERRATIC, I MEAN IT DOESNT SHOW THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF GAS LEFT. WHAT COULD BE WRONG? THANKS.

In a case like this, the culpret is most likely the fuel level sending unit, which is located on the fuel pump in the fuel tank. In most vehicles, the pump and the sending unit all come in one assembly, which means in order to get a correct reading on the gauge, you'll need to replace the fuel pump. And actually, considering the fact that you have to drop the fuel tank and remove the pump anyway, it's just good measure to change them as a set.

I hope this helps! :)
