Replace the oil pressure switch for the third wire on that sends 12 volts to the fuel pump upon turning the ignition key on to prime. Once oil pressure is achived the computer shuts that circuit off and turns on the fuel pump relay to power the pump till you shut off the engine

You need to get at thte wire harness near the fuel tank, this feeds the fuel pump and your sending unit for the gas gauge. Unplug this connection and with a test light or volt meter check the harness. With the key off check all of the connectors, you are looking for 12 volts positive. Now have some one turn on the key and look for one of the wire that had no volts, get 12 volts for a couple of seconds. (This will go away after a couple of seconds, so turn off the key and wait a minute, then on again to try the next connector. You will need a hand for this.) What you are looking for is one of the wires without positive volts to get positive voltage for a second, this means that your relay is good, and you probably need a fuel pump.

Fuel does not reach fuel rail

3 thing to check
1.Fuel pump relay
When you turn the igntion key to the on position you should hear a click on then after about 2-3 seconds a click off, your fuel pump will be getting power while the relay is clicked on. If yo dont here a click it could just mean that you have a quite or external relay. If you have a multi meter then you can test this by putting the - to - and the + to + and getting someone to turn the key to the "on" position. If you get a reading then your relay is fine, If your pump is not making a noise go to step 2.
2. Fuel pump is working
What you can do it get 2 small wires and connect it to the fuel pump its self making sure you have the positive and negative correct. Then touch it to the battery, If the pump operates then the pump is fine.
3. Check your filter.
it may be blocked and stopping fuel getting though the filter to the engine.

Let me know how you go please

I replaced the turn signal switch and now it wont start. i can hear the fuel pump kick on. makes no sense

You said you hear the pump come on, then said fuel pump not running ???
Check the fuse for the pump, preferably with a test light to verify power is there. Key must be in on position. If the fuse is powered, feel for the fuel pump relay to click when you turn key to on. Put your finger on it while someone turns key to on. If it clicks, check for power at the tank connector on the pump wire, while the engine is cranked. If power there when cranking, the pump must have failed and needs replacing. If the relay clicked with key on, and no power at the pump wire at tank while cranking, then check wiring from relay to pump connector-the fuel wire may have broken.
If the relay doesn't click when key turned on, check for the power feed for the pump at the relay terminal. If the relay has power available to be transmitted to pump, then the relay's signal from the computer or the ground side of the relay's coil signal (from the computer) may need checked.
If the pump is working, and you have good pressure in the lines, check the injector circuit. Also a fused circuit, so check the fuse first. The injector should have a steady voltage signal to it with key on. The injector only has two wires, the power wire and the ground wire which goes to the computer. When the computer momentarily grounds the injector circuit, the injector "pulses", causing fuel to spray out the bottom.

Lost power to fuel pump

the oil pressure sensor has a 3rd wire which feeds to the fuel pump .. If you turn the ignition key on and do not hear the fuel pump running for 5 seconds, replace that oil pressure sensor. That sensor does turn the fuel pump circuit off once oil pressure is acheive and the the computer switches the fuel pum relay on to take over running the fuel pump

Have a 1999 ford explorer sport 4x4, cranks want start. have replaced fuel pump, crank senser and cam senser, checked fuzes, replaced computer. doesnt seem to be firing

When you turn the key on you should beable to hear the fuel pump come on. Other than that you have a fuel pressure test port, looks just like a tire valve stem get a little probe press the valve after cranking fuel should come out strongly and not dribble out. If is doesnt seem to be firing your going to have check the coil pack for spark from the coil pack take one plug wire out and put it in a position that as you crank the vehicle you will be able to see spark jump or even hear give it a 1/4 air gap from its connection. If you dont have spark and your timing chain isnt broken you need to check for power the choice of tool is a test light.or volt meter. If you dont have either test tool we will go by sound when you turn the key on the engine fuse box has relays do you hear them click. That click noise will be fuel pump relay and PCM relay for power inpect those relays for corrode connections you mainly have a power problem and inspect for proper ground a missing ground can also cause the ECM to not fire the coils2_26_2012_7_32_43_am.gif

Gmc yukon turns but will not start dont hear the fuel pump on in the fuel tank

With ignition key on run, use test light to verify you have positive & ground to fuelpump. No power (positive) check fuelpump fuse. No ground check fuelpump relay. If both positive & ground fuelpump needs to be replaced.

Went to a store came back out would not start but strong battery,im tinking fuel pump dont know alot about car only had it a week

stand outside your van, reach in the window and turn your key over, but not to the start position. you should hear a whirring sound from the rear of the van and it should last about 2-3 sec. this will be your fuel pump powering up. if you dont hear it,then you have a bad fuel pump. Dodge Caravans from 96-01 are VERY bad about eating fuel pumps. if the pump is fine, have someone try to start it while you look under hood and see if injectors are spraying fuel. if the pump is good, and you have no spray from the injector, then you have a clogged fuel filter which will need replaced.

check plug for fuel pump in harness near gas tank for corrosion and it may also have seoerated wire where it comes out of connecter the seperation may be from pulling on wires when pump replaced insulation may look alright because it streaches.

I drove my Jeep to school and after class it wouldn't start. It cranks really good but sounds like it's not getting fuel. How can I check to see if the fuel sending unit in the tank is working or check the...

get somone to turn the key to the on position while you listen for the pump in the fuel tank usualy a whiz or wineing sound if you hear it the you good if you dont hear it when turning the key to the on off on position "the positoin before you crank the engine" then try hitting the tank with a stick or hammer a few times it could be stuck. if this works then park it when you get home, until you get a new pump.
you can check the pump relay usually under the hood in a black box marked as fues or somting like that the relays are marked on the bottom of the lid. if you dont hear clicking with key to on off position then try switch aound with a similar relay in the same junction box
