My 99 nvoyager keeps running hot change thermostat, fan, moduler , water pump, think it may be electrical. help someone

If fan turns on and nothing is leaking try to find a thermometer and check the radiator in different areas sometimes they clog up and only a few vanes are open and not cooling it off properly.youll find cold spots the temp in different area should be the same +or - 10 degree one side to the other.

May be a defective thermostat or place in the wrong direction. If it's properly installed, might want to check the fan operation which may be producing the overheating.
If fan is good, one way to remove air in the coolant system is to run vehicle while all heaters on. take extra coolant and stop along the way to top off if needed. While driving, keep listening for the fan to begin running when vehicle reaches high temperatures.
If you continue to experience overheating, may want to take to a local known repair shop for further troubleshooting.

Ihave a 99 vw passat 1.8 ,replaced head timing belt,gear,and cover,new water pump,thermostat,and overheats very quickly.it has 2 fans,1 electric the other is driven by beltsand is with fan clutch,clut


First, Ronald is an IDIOT! DO NOT power wash the engine EVER! If the engine is really hot and you spray ice cold water on it can crack the head instantly! Also, everyone knows' water and electricity don't mix! the ignition control module is $300. A little water on that and its gone!
If your car is overheating, you may need a water pump! The one you got, may have been bad! The rule is, as soon as a car overheats, the thermostat MUST be changed! A simple test would be to remove the thermostat and close it back up! A few dollars for the gasket is all you will spend! Try and run the car without it and see if it still gets hot! If it still gets hot, check the water in the radiator or resivor to see if the water is also hot. If its hot then the water pump is working and you need to check the fans! You can run a power wire to the fan to make sure they are working. There are relays for those also! If they are not turning on, that is most likely your problem! I rebuild VW's for a living!

You vehicle has a cooling fan module that has three different speeds,It is mounted at the radiator,Run the vehicle at operating temperature, shut it off and use your hand and feel for cold spot if you have it its plugged

My 99 alero v6 is over heating not leaking ight mite be hoses or thermostat . or head gasket but when it overb heats the smoke comes from the top of the engine

i need your help about problem water pump. I did exchanged new water pump. but it keep increase hot up .. i still figure something out about water pump. do you think fan cooling broke either fuse blow out .. thank you ..

MY HOT AND COLD METER KEEPS RISING AND FALLING


If the fans are electric, then replace the fan control module.
If the fan is belt driven, replace the fan clutch.

There is a chance that the thermostat is failing, but if the temperature fluctyation occurs during driving, as opposed to stopped and idling, then it's probably the fans.

When I excelerate or stop for a long period of time my car starts over heating, what do you think the problem is?


It could be a faulty: 1-Radiator fan, Check the fuse. 2-Bad Thermostat, Change the Thermostat 3-Weak Water pump, Change the Water Pump.
Easiest thing to do is see if the fuse to the Electric radiator fan is bad. If it's good, then start up the car and see if it goes on when the temperature starts to get hot. I think the fan activates around 190". If the fan does not turn on, check for lose wires and bad grounds to the electric motor. Take caution, fan may activate without warning.
If the electric fan works good, then change the Thermostat. It may have failed and stuck in the shut position. After changing the Thermostat and problem still there, good chances are that it's the Water pump that may be faulty.
Before you go all though that trouble, check the Antifreeze level, make sure you have lots in there and just don't look at the radiator antifreeze reservoir. Look in the filler cap and the radiator cap. The plastic can become stained making it look like it is full but it's really empty.
Good luck and hope this help. Oh don't buy any radiator flush, it may clean up any dirt that my be plugging up any holes in the system, you do have a 6 year old car.
