Question about 1990 Jaguar XJ6

My car will just stop while driving it. The oil

I have a 1990 XJ6 Jaguar car. When i start it up the oil light with a circle around it comes on and then after it start it goes off. That light will come on and off while driving. I was driving my car and it just stalled out on me while I was at a stop light twice. The oil is fine. It had 72,000 miles and is in excellent condition. The one fellow told me it was a oil pump can this be true.

Yes that is a possibility. One way to tell is by checking your oil while the engine is hot - if oil is high on the dipstick (past the full mark), then the pump should be working. If the dipstick is dry or has very little (and you know the oil is full), then the pump needs replaced.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

1995 Jaguar XJ6 oil pressure gauge

This is OK. Oil pressure is always higher when the engine is cold.

As an engine accumulates miles the pressure will start to drop due to bearing clearances increasing.

If this just started to happen you may want to replace the oil filter and or oil pressure sending unit.
