Depending on what type of clip you have, you'll need to take a small flathead screwdriver and pry the plastic clip off the rod or you will need to take a needlenose pliers and squeeze the plastic end of the clip to release the tension on the rod and than pull the rod out.

How to remove door panel on 2003 grand caravan

  1. Remove the plug and remove screw attaching door pull cup to inner door panel.
  2. Remove the switch bezel and then disconnect the power window-memory switch.
  3. Now you need to remove the screws attaching the trim panel to the door from below map pocket.
  4. If you have a window crank remove this now.
  5. Remove the screw holding the door trim to the door panel from behind -inside latch release handle .
  6. Now disengage the clips attaching the door trim to the door frame around the outside of the panel.
  7. Lift the trim panel upward to disengage the flange from the inner belt molding at the top of the door.
  8. Now tilt the top of trim panel away from door to gain access to the linkage on the latch.
  9. Now you need to disengage the clip that attaches the linkage rod to the inside latch release handle - this is the inside door handle linkage.
  10. Now just separate the linkage rod from the latch handle.
  11. Now you disconnect the power door switch and the courtesy lamp connectors.
  12. Now you can remove the door trim panel up and out.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Left drivers door will not open from inside it does open from outside how to repair

you will need to remove inner door panel, either the handle itself broke where the rod connects,or the rod fell off or broke at the door latch, or the door latch lever bent or corrodded, the outer and inner handles use the same door latch but not the same mechanisms or rods to operate the latch. Once you remove the door panel and the inner dust shield with the window up look in the bottom of door for clips or a rod or broken parts. and note latch and handle for boken or bent and missing pieces. once you start looking it all becomes self explanatory.

Need to replace door latch on 2001 cavalier drivers side, how do you remove the latch? The rods coming from the door handles hook through the arms coming off the latch

Hello, I think I know your problem and I can help. The rods are attached with little plastic fasteners that "swing away" to release the rods. I am sending you a picture of a typical fastener, if you look at it you will see a square channel with one side open. The open part is where you unsnap it. It's a tight squeeze but you can reach in and unsnap the connectors to free the latch, then just remove the bolts holding the latch to the door. When you go to put it all back together, I find it's easier to unbolt the outside door handle and push everything up and out the hole to give room to connect the fasteners. Once everything is connected just slip it all down and bolt the latch to the door and bolt the outside handle back. I hope this helps you with your problem, if not feel free to ask anything else that might help, good luck. fc85c18.jpg
