When turning the key to start the car, 4 out of five times car wont turn over, starter is fine, battery fine, when i put the car in neutral, it will turn over, after it has run, the problem seems to...

If the engine will always crank over normally when the transmission is in Nuetral but not in Park then you may have a failing transmission mounted Park/Nuetral safety switch. [This switch may also be called a Range position switch or a PRNDL switch] If the problem will occur equally when in Park or Nuetral then you would need to test to see if the starter solenoid control wire is actually being powered up when the key is in the crank position and follow the circuit back to find the cause of the problem. Good luck, hope this helps.

Does having to shift from reverse drive and park a lot wear down a transmission faster. Like lets say nearly 30 times a day. I personally wouldnt think say so but others i know say different. I would like...

it would cause more wear and tear than a normal use car but a taxi driver friend of mine only puts it in nuetral when stopped, then back in drive or reverse when needed...he also starts engine in nuetral.

My car stopped starting.

Based on the information you have supplied, the car is not shifting in to the correct position. So when you try starting the car , it will not allow the starter to crank thinking it is not in park (which it is reverse) I suspect that the shifter cable from lever to the transmission has become stretched over time and use. It can be adjusted at the transmission to shift cable hook up. The connection at the lever base could have also get disconnected. Try that first

The van will not start but without the key on the auto relay is buzzing. the van did start once but cut off. it only started after jamming the shift lever up into the park position.

Sounds like the safety nuetral switch its located on the trans mission and will only allow the vehicle to be started in park or nuetral position but if its gone bad or out of adjustment your vehicle will never start. Look under the hood on the top of the transmission assuming its front wheel drive where the shift linkage attatches to the transmission there will be an electronic part there with a wire connector that should be the one. I f its rear wheel drive then its under the vehicle generally on the drivers side of the tronamission.

Wont start in Park But will start in Nuetral

Neutral safety switch usually threaded into transmission, unless AW-4 model. Same switch used to trip back-up lights. Look for harness with approx 3-4 wires, unplug & unscrew switch from transmission.
