Did you fit a new fuel pick up screen to the pump? Does the problem still occur with the fuel cap removed?

No fuel getting through to engine

If you continued to attempt to start the car after running out of fuel the fuel pump may have been damaged. The petrol in the tank acts as a coolant on the fuel pump and when the tank is empty if the starter is continuously engaged it can overheat and burn out the pump.

Fuel pump continuously runs no start

have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold to check for fuel pressure regulator faulty and allowing the fuel to continually back to the tank and not having pressure in the manifold for the injector operation

Turns over and over can hear fuel pump come on will start with starting fluid and runs great but when shut off for a little while wont start again only with starting fluid

If the starting fluid works then you have a fuel pump or a fuel pump relay issue. The fuel pump relay allows the pump to come on for about 2 secs and prime the fuel system. Once the engine starts then the power to the fuel pump runs through the oil pressure circuit.
If the car starts on starting fluid and then continues to run... I would lean toward a fuel pump relay issue. Hope this helps, Good Luck!

91 oldsmobile custom cruiser will not start, did test and we get spark. The fuel pump continuously run when key is turned. Have replaced fuel pump relay. Next suggestion was to replace ecm fuse - but...

The bigger question here is whether or not the fuel pump is delivering fuel when it runs. Fuel pumps work on pressure. Once the pressure builds up in the fuel lines it will shut off until the pressure drops, then it turns on again. The fact that your pump doesn't turn off suggests that either it's not pumping any fuel out of the tank or it's not building any pressure. First thing to do is make sure there is fuel in the tank. It's possible your fuel guage has stopped working and is giving a false reading.Start looking for gas leaking under the car. A leak that let's the pump run continuously should leave a very visible wet spot. Look at the top of the tank as best you can too. Loosen the fuel line at the throttle body and see if you have pressure there. Maybe it's pouring fuel into the engine and creating a flooding condition. The fact that it runs continuously would suggest the problem isn't the filter. If the filter was plugged it would build pressure. If you can't find anything here I think you are going to have to drop the tank and start looking in there to see why it isn't picking up fuel, possibly replacing the pump. Hope this helps.

98 chevy 1500 starts and then shuts right off have replaced fuel pump and filter ,crank sensor, cam sensor ,oil sen. coil, ign.mod and PCM

On some chevys the oil pressure sending unit closes the circuit to continue the fuel pump to run after start. In the event of a wreck ,the car stops running thus no oil pressure thus turns off power to the fuel pump .A safety to help prevent fires. When you first start the car, the computer turns on the fuel pump for about 20 seconds just enough time to start and allow the oil pressure sending unit to close the circuit to allow it to continue running. when the car car has NO oil pressure or the sending unit fails ,it will start then shut down..as many times as you try to start. replace the oil pressure sending unit and secure a good conection. 1990 Mazda B2200 w EFI- Starts and dies

When you turn the key to the on position can you hear the fuel pump turn on? If not, the fuel pump relay has gone bad. Make sure you have at least 5 gallons of fuel in the tank. Check and make sure you have fuel flow to the rail, try cracking the banjo bolt on the fuel rail.

Does a fuel pump continue to pump fuel with ignition on when the fuel line is diconected from fuel filter The car wont start no codes found it has done this a few times this year it runs fine when running...

you have a bad fuel pump it's in the tank and only comes on in these conditions.
1. ignition switch turned to the run position turns on for two seconds.
2. same as above but when engine starts pump continues to run as long as engine runs. and the safety switch for blow out prevention has not been tripped.

Your problem is the fuel pump and fuel sock and the check valve in the pump. only one way to be sure and that's pressure testing. You hook up gage to fuel rail turn the ignition key to the run position look at pressure should read 40 to 50 psi and should hold for 1 minute, if you drop 5 pounds in one minute pump is bad and even if it started they could verify that the check valve is not holding pressure.
This is caused by the life of the pump by using gas with ethonal in it and your car was not designed for it, so it damages the pump and injectors and destroys the filter in the pump.

Chevy S10 starts and then shuts off.

well i would try squirting fuel into the throttle body when it is in its not running mode. if it starts and runs you know the fuel pump is at fault .. or its not getting the right fuel pressure from it..
