There is more to it than this, the ac system will have to be reset,by removing the negative battery cable for 25 seconds and putting it back on,but if the cables on this van have not been removed before, check with the dealer to make sure the computer will not loose it`s memory before you do this, unless you know the computer will be fine, after resetting the ac system, the freon level needs to be checked, this is most likely the problem, low,or out of freon. Please rate if this is helpful,at all, thank you.

Wiring diagram for e350 ford van air conditioner

You seem mechanically inclined, so I want you to try this before you do anything else; let's decern whether or not the clutch is any good .

I want you to unplug the the plug that plugs into the compressor . Just in case there is a possible short somewhere, clip the wire's to the plug, but leave enough wire to reconnect them back . Attach two pieces of wire to the wire's on the plug that you just clipped, making them long enough to reach the battery . Plug the plug back into the compressor . After skinning the wire's on the other end, touch one to the positive (+) side of the battery, and the other to the negative (-) side of the battery . When you do this, you should hear a click from the clutch of the compressor, if you don't then the clutch is bad, if you do; then you are low on freon, your low pressor swith is bad, or you have wiring problem's .

What energizes ac relay on 2005 freestar

The low side pressure switch in the AC low pressure line signals the PCM (computer control) to close the AC compressor relay and raise the idle speed. If the system is low on refrigerant charge the relay will not allow the system to engage the compressor, this is because the oil that lubricates all the works is suspended in the AC refrigerant, if that is low then the system gets no lubrication and will quickly seize up..
