Your vehicle should be running between 210 and 220 degrees Farenheit. Under excessive loads with 5 adults on a very hot day it may get near 230 or for a brief second prior to the thermostat opening. Please rate me on my answer.

THERMOSTATS

Unless you are in the Artic, there is little need to change thermostats. Once Pollution controls were invented the operating temperature of engines were raised to about 195 degrees on average.

In the old days, thermostats were as low as 165 degrees and I believe as high as 210 degrees.

In the old days, you did not have Automatic Electric radiator cooling fans to supplement the water system. If you were to increase todays thermostats by too high of a margin, the Electric cooling fans would run almostt constantly.

Please rate my info.

Hi I have a 1990 nissan Terrano which has been th best car Ihave had. The temperature normally stays really low or highest of half way but has lately has started to be much higher. On short journeys up...

hi there is a lot of causes can make the temperature higher 1- you have to inspect the coolant visually to determine its condition rust.oil(internal engine leak) NB the coolant or antifreeze should be changed at regular intervals .after prolonged use, coolant will break down and become very corrosive 2- a faulty engine fan can cause overheating you have to check water pump if there is any noise coming up it during engine running and check belts and the fan for bent blades ,cracks, flexible fans are especially prone to these problems if any troubles are found replace the fan 3-a stuck thermostat can cause engine overheating if the thermostat is stuck shut, coolant will not circulate through the radiator as a result overheating could make the coolant boil. hope that will help you if you need any more assistant leave it here and i will check it

01 dodge grand caravan 3.8l no coolant circulation all hoses warm to the touch no heat replace water pump and tstat...flushed out no restriction...constant bubbles coming up to radiator...no over...

If it is the head gasket you should see coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant. New thermostats can be bad right out of the new box. You can test them by boiling water on the stove and putting it in an watch to see if it opens at the right temperature. Between 185.F - 205.F (average is 195.F)

2000 chevy truck only heats up to 150, and its not the thermostat.

how do you know it is not the thermostat? have you pulled the thermostat. are you relying on the gage? does the heater throw out heat, if not then it has to be the thermostat. you can check the heat manually by using a meat thermometer by taking off the radiator cap and run the car for about ten minutes, then stick the thermometer into the radiator and check the temperature. If the temp is less than what the thermostat is rated, the thermostat is bad. If it's the same you could have a bad sending unit, or the gauge is faulty

What is average milage for radiator replacement

Radiator does not requires a frequent replacement untill  the radiator get damage or choke-up if you having water circulation problem or radiator heating problem then see for radiator cleanup or flusing , the radiator or the car can get heat up even if the electriacal problem happen like radiator fan motor issue, the thermostat issue, temperature issue, fan relay issue. much more thing comes to consideration so for trouble free issue & a hazard free driving do make sure that you visit your nearest authorised service centre or service station untill then see you sir... have happing motoring & drive safely...!
