No. Get a quote somewhere else. That is no where near 2k worth of work. There may be $400.00 in parts there. But I doubt it. Maybe another $500.00 in labor.

Pics of camshaft sensor and knock sensor

the cam sensor is in the distributor. The optical sensor in the distributor controls spark timing and fuel injector timing.

The knock sensor is under the intake manifold. DO not ever change it, even if you get a KS code. It will not affect engine performance and usually it sets the code due to broken motor mount, not a bad KS.

1999 is noted for the distributor bearing failing and the brown dust it sprays all over the optical sensor. Usually engine runs until warm and then acts up. Distributor is $200 on ebay.

1998 Mercury Villiager stalls out when put into gear also at red lights unless it has been running for over 15 minutes?

I suspect your fast idle control is not working. Could be solenoid. Mounted on throttle body.

clean the throttle body passages and clean the MAF sensor with carb cleaner. disconnect battery for 2 hours to clear memory in computer, drive for 10 miles to relearn, may run rough for 10 miles.

1995 Villager Engine light is on

you may have a broken crankshaft snout. This was a common problem on 93-95 Villagers if customer replaced a/c belt and overtightened the belt tensioner.

Did you ecently have the belt changed?
Also, remove distributor cap and rotor ( 1 screw) and slotted plate/ Look for brown dust on optical sensors. If yes clean them and see if van starts. If it starts you will need a new distributor (ebay $200) as the bearing is going.

Info . on the motor

not an interference motor. change the timing belt to fix.

Just be sure it's not the fuel pump or distributor first.

Check for brown dust under distributor cap & rotor. If yes, replace distributor. Ebay for part.
