Soda and OD 2008 hyundai accent

Some soda got spilled into the shifter area (automatic car) and now the car will not go into OD. button is not working. my guess is I need to clean the electrical connection.
I do not know how to remove the panel around the shifter to be able to clean it.
Can anyone help with this?
I know the radio bezel can just be popped off, is it the same with the center console?

You will need to take out a few screws. There are a few you can get to from the back seat. May have to take out the ash tray to get to one of them. Once you do, follow the wires from the O/D button to the connector. These wires get crimped and break quite often. find where it is broke, cut and splice together, then retape.

Shifter stuck in P

Things it could be:

1. Shift cable
2. Shift interlock solonoid
3. Cable running from ignition sw to shifter

also check: shiftlock solenoid is sticking (from gunk in there, spilled soda etc). I would Remove shifter and clean all components first, with attention to the shiftlock solenoid unit

Drain plug location for transmission on 2008 hyundai accent

If this is an automatic, there is no drainplug. You have to drop the entire tranny pan, but if you\'re careful when taking the bolts loose; you can drain the pan pretty easy.

The stick shift has a coke spill and it is a little hard to shift since, How to I open the shift box

since you or someone spilled soda pop on your shifter you could lift the boot cover and unscrew the boot.to gain access to this area. however this could be a real pain in the !!! what i would try first is to get a solution of hot soapy water and pour it slowwly or repeatedly down the shifter hole to wash out the soda pop. this all goes right out onto the ground.

Car won't shift right away I have to pump the brake forever first

Ya it's possible, there is a shift interlock solenoid on the shifter that will only release the shifter when it has power from the brake light switch. There is also a solenoid on the ignition switch that won't allow the key to be turned to lock unless the shifter is in park. That is whats clicking.

1994 sentra...can't find the reset for the shift lock

there is no reset for shift interlock if you turn the key on and you press the brake down and hold it for a minuite or so WITHOUT touching the shift lever yet and it comes out of park, then the problem is most likly soda or ther liquids that have been spilled in the shifter area over the years and caused the shift silond to become sticky .would need to be cleaned

Wheres the overdrive unit and how do i test it?

I'm guessing automatic trans. look at the end of the shifter handle there should be a button on the end . if you press it a yellow light should come on saying OD OFF . and the engine rpm should increase when driving, meaning the trans came out of OD. press it again and trans will go back into OD and light goes out.
hope this helps.

Automatic shift has trouble getting into gear

If you have spilled any coke or coffee on shifter it will cause the shift lock actuator to stick if you have floor shifter. You will have to remove center console to clean. If nothing has been spilled shift lock actuator needs to be replaced.
