Problems have been found with the shifter assembly. Before ordering this part verify that the dual switch for the brake and safety is working properly. Switch is located under the dash by the brake pedal assembly.

Most safety switches are a black module located on the side of the transmission, where it shifts into gear.

On the console there should be a little door. If you open the door and use a narrow screwdriver in this hole it should allow you to take the car out of park. Be sure that you have your foot on the brake when you do this or the car may move.

2007 chrysler sebring stuck in park, tried to release safety switch but will not release, any other advice?

IS the car parked on a hill? If so you have to relieve the pressure on the trans. The pressure can be strong enough to prevent the shifter from moving. Also the shift cable could be bad.
