Your going to need a wrench, 13 or 14 mm, and a star socket 50. Put wrench on center bolt of pulley to release tension on belt, if your just going to replace the pulley and not the whole assembly, the bolt on the pulley is left hand thread, the pulley by it's self is sold, if your going to replace the assembly, remove it with the star 50 socket, and install new one.

How do I change the serpentine belt. It's a diesel and has 140000 miles on the origina belt

this ones easy

obtain new belt from supplyer

with a 1/2 breaker bar or a large pry bar
locate the square hole on the belt tensioner
(the pully with a big spring on it)
push it to the right this will remove the tension off it
now the belt will slip off all the pullys
(caution Do not just let the tension pully go let off slowly)
it will break off it does have about 80 lbs of force behind it

the belt diagram for how to route new belt is printed right infront of the radiator

Belt inst

For the 3.0L Vulcan, you have a tensioner that is located just below the power steering pully. Use a 15mm wrench or the 15mm shallow well socket that comes in a Serpentine Belt tool to push the tensioner toward the rear of the engine compartment. Take the old belt off and route the new belt. The belt begins at the crankshaft pully, goes under and around the a/c compressor, up around the power steering pump, around (with the flat edge) the idler pully, around the alternator, the flat edge then sits against the tensioner and back around to the water pump pully. You should have a belt routing diagram on the underside of the hood just above the serpentine pully assembly.

I own a ford focus 2006 the belt fell off I'm not sure which one and a need to be able to put it back on.

well, the belt does not just fall off. If the belt has come off it's because one of the pullys have failed.there is only 1 belt on that car, there should be a diagram under the hood that says "drive belt routing"
You need to release tension on the tensioner pully with a serpentine belt tool or a long 3/8" breaker bar. rout the belt according to the diagram, then re apply the tension

Serpentine belt came off need to know how it goes back on

this is hard to exsplain without showing you a photo ,but i will try. first get the belt around the engine crankshaft which is the pully closest to the bottom and center of the engine. when standing in front of engine start to lead the belt to the right and connect to power steering pump then up to generator, next thare is going to be a smooth pully not groved like the others to the left, put the smooth side of the belt on bottom of this pully and continue left to the ac/compressor go around ac/compressor andstraight down to the belt tensioner , and then right over to the water pump which has a smooth pully not grooved. remember the smooth pullys will always carry the smooth side of the belt and the grooved pullys the grooved side of belt. the belt tensioner will half to be released by a serpantine belt tensioner tool sold at your local auto parts store. these instructions is for 3.8 liter engine, if you have a 4.6 liter engine it will be different, so repost stating that you have a 4.6 if this dont help

The belt that runs the water pump on 1995 Auora

Looks like the belt got hot??? You mean there are shreds of belt material all over the place? If so you have a locked pully somepalce. Replacing the belt is easy, find the diagram of the belt system under your hood. Find the pully that is the tensionor pully. Fine the correct wrench, remove tension, slip of belt from one pulley. remove belt completely, then, since you have shredded belt material, spin each pulley and see which one isn't turning easily. All the pullies will spin easily execpt for the crank. If you have one that's not, well, that one is shot. Needs to be replaced. And if may not just be the pully, might be the accesory which the pulley sits on. Example, water pump, altenator, etc....

2002 focus serpentine removal

The tensioner pully is a spring loaded arm and pully that rests against the belt.
You will find a square hole in the arm of the pully, this will fit a 3/8" ratchet drive.
You can use either the drive handle of a ratchet wrench, or a 3/8" drive breaker bar.
Snap the drive handle into the hole and turn in the direction that releases tension on the belt.
Make sure to release the arm slowly to avoid injury once the belt is off.
