You need to inject, dye with the freon, you will also need a UV light and glasses, auto parts sell this, after installed dye and freon, run a/c about 20 mim, turn off and with light and glasses look for leak, look for yellow stain.

You have to put a special die into teh system and then use ultra violet light and special glasses to see the leak.Sorry no quick fix ,normal places for a leak are the front seal on the compressor or one of the flexible pipes gone porous

Why would my ac on a 2002 jetta just stop blowing cold air?

There are a variety of reasons. If there is a slow leak on your AC lines, once the pressure falls below a certain value, the compressor cut-off switch will no longer allow it to come on. Many times when a car stops blowing cold air, it has to do with either the AC compressor or a leak in the lines, though there are other possibilities.

If you take your car down to a Pep Boys, you can ask for a free AC check and they will check the pressure on your lines. If there is appropriate pressure, then you can tell generally that it is a component of your AC system, most likely the compressor. If there is no pressure, you can have them refill the freon, but bear in mind that it will eventually leak out again unless you have them find the leak and fix it.

Ac working fine, blowing cold. suddenly next time you start car it blows hot. It blows cold sometimes and not others

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. You may have a freon line leaking somewhere or it may just need freon. You should buy a can to make sure or test what is in the lines, test your pressure. You may also have a compressor going bad as well.

My AC wont blow cold. As soon as I put freon in it, it blows cold for about an hour, then hot again. My friend told me that the orifice tube in his car needed to be replaced because it was convertine the...

Sounds like you might have a leak. If you charge the system and works for a time ,(hour, week, year) and then quits it sounds like perhaps the freon is leaking out somewhere. Freon does not ever get converted to air. Freon is in several states of existance while it is in your system. It is a high presure liquid, high presure gas, low presure liquid, and a low presure gas, but it is still always freon.
The valve your friend is talking about is called an expansion valve. What it does is to take the high presure "liquid" freon and allows it to pass into a low presure zone called an evaporator at a regulated rate. When you take freon at a liquid state high presure condition and expose it to a low presure environment it "evaporates" ( thus the name evaporator) and it gets very cold when it does this. This is where the cold air you feel coming out of the vents is made.
But the freon is in an enclosed system. By this, I mean it is never exposed to air, moisure (water), or anything else. I goes through all of these changes while inside this enclosed system.
Therefore, if the enclosed system is good then the amount of freon inside it will not change. If the amount of freon doesn't change then adding more will only make things worse.
I would suggest having the system checked with a hologen leak detector and/or system dye to find the leaks. Remember, if you have to add freon, then the freon that was there before must have escaped from somewhere.
Find a reputable shop to check the system for leaks. If it is leaking bad enough to run low in a hour it should be an easy to find leak.

When i turn on ac it blows hot air

Normally due to low freon. Also, notice if the a/c compressor clutch engages, as it will not if the freon is low.

My air condition is not working

first check your fuses and any relays sometimes you have multible relays that are the same in a fuse box that you can switch around but i would bet you have a leak either in your compressor or in your line if the clutch is not kicking on and off or running all the time when you turn it on thats because your freon has leaked out the system is sealed freon does not go bad if there is no pressure in the system it will just blow warm air your question is vague so if your blower is not blowing bad blower motor or a fuse if warm not getting cold your system has a leak if you have not broke the system you can try stop leak 2 cans to seal a leaky compressor compressor could be bad if it wont spin noisy clutch could be bad need new compressor but if a leak after stop leak add the right amount or r-134a 2 to 3 cans if the compressor kicks on on the first can of stop leak or freon your system did leak down and you hope the stop leak fixes it but first check all your lines are tight and that the freon is not leaking from the high or low pressure ports the valve can leak sometimes make sure your caps are on take some spit after you add freon back into your system see if your spit blows a bubble if it does replace or tighten the valve. a few things to check start with power fuses then add a can of freon if you have power now clutch engagement if you add and kicks on there is the reason a leaky system it will all leak back out in a day or several days... thats why you can add the stop leak things you can try or take it to the shop and pay someone some $$$$$

The a/c blows and the compressors on. at least the clutch engages its just not cold

If you know the system has the correct amount of freon and it does not blow cold usually this means that the accumulator, or sometimes called the drier bottle is full of moisture. They only hold so much.Yours being an older car it happens. In which case the accumulator must be replaced with a new one. All freon must come out to releave the pressure. The drier must be replace with a new one, includeing the orings or seals that seal the drier, then the system should be evacuated with a vac. pump and reduced to negative pressure. It should hold this neg. pres. for a few hours to show if the system has a leak. Then new freon added at the exact proper amount for that car.
I hope this helps you.

My ac does not work properly when I add freon the ac will work well for about 5 minuted then will blow warm air hoping some one could give me an idea what might be wrong, ie what to replace to fix it.

does the compressor keep cycling on and off ? if so then it is low on refrigerant causing the cycling, sometimes you have to bypass the compressor pressure switch to stop it from cycling long enough to get enough refrigerant in the system, but of course you need to check for a leak if you are trying to recharge the unit then add a refrigerant with dye solution in it to locate any leaks, note leaks and then evacuate system amd rapair the leak source and then draw the system down add the proper compressor oil or refreigerant with oil in it. you may want to have a qualified AC repair facility do this , so they can properly evacuate and recover the refrigerant material... thanks , please rate my help...

My ac does not blow cold in my 97 cadillac deville but it does blow just not cold and its n ot the fuse what can i do?

You probably have leaked out your freon after so much time. Try adding some more Freon if it doesnt stay charged you may have bigger issues.

1995 Chevy Suburban blows cold once charged then hours later hot

Its a leak ...probably concealed like in an evap housing or rear air unit and lines (if it has that). Prob at this juncture I would remove all the freon and bring system into a vaccuum with a pump and see if it will hold vaccum for an extended period of time. A bad leak will not hold srong vacuum very long and much cheaper than wasting expensive and enviromental un0friendly refrigerants.
