I have a 1997 Ford F150 5 speed overdrive. We have put 4 starters in the 90 days. We have cleaned all the connections and it fits snug when we put it on. Its starts to click and you have to hit the starter.

The Transmission shifts very hard after the first shift. Check engine light is on as well as the Green overdrive light blinks off and on. Speed sensor was cleaned and even replaced.

Your on the right track. Have you scanned the PCM, what codes did you get? If not and you changed the vehicle speed sensor,(VSS) did you check the (OSS) output shaft speed sensor, it will cause torque converter lock up and hard shifting and that pesky OD light flashing. I have also found that clutch packs inside auto tranny's dry out. Ford and some aftermarket companies sell a fluid that will recondition the clutch packs.

I have a 2008 Ford Taurus Sxl. When the car gets to a leveled out speed it will start jerking. It will stop if you decrease or increase the speed. Usually does it at speeds of 40-50 and 60-70. It shifts...

1st, check your battery cables, vibration at high speeds leads to the loosen cables not to make good electrical connections. 2nd , check the transmission linkage, Is it loose? , 3rd, check your brakes, a loose pad/ shoe may be creating friction due to dragging parts that should be snug fit. if all those basics have checked out OK, then due your fuel pressure (dirt may "remotely" contribute to that, you should have a fitting right before the throttle body, hook up the gauge and get the reading, ...BY THE WAY, check your engine and transmission mounts, wash the engine if it is too dirty too see. Another one is If you have an EGR valve ( may be attached by 2 bolts no bigger than 13mm, remove the EGR valve and inspect the pin for carbon build up. I believe that it may be your mounts. raise the car off the ground entirely and turn your tires , move them side to side ( with brute force) and also pass your hand flat and around the tires tread surface and feel for bumps, perhaps you may need a tire balance. GOOD LUCK!

Turn key many times before starter works 1997 galant

I pulled out the ignition switch and found that it was not turning quite far enough. I put some gaffer tape across the slot that turns in the switch, then pushed it back in to create a snug fit. When you pull it out you'll see what I mean. So far so good.

1997 ford contour 4 cylinder transmission shift real hard transmission oil level is to much overdrive light flashes sometimes ,aLso when its not shifting right it sounds like the motOr is racing

the racing you hear is most likely a slipping in the transmission. in terms you may understand is this, you're giving the car gas,but the gas does'nt work, you hear the engine roaring, but slow motion?if this is the case, you may need a transmission fluid filter and fluid change, this may help.depending on how long the problems been going on. 3.0 engines are really good motors.but the transmissions behind the engine demand clean fluid, filter. is your check engine light on? the hard shift tells me somethings wrong may only have a bad speed sensor. suggest you move towards the speed sensor. if the chck engn lghts on. do what i described above. if not,no light on,suggest you reset your computer by disconnecting the positive cable from your battery for 10minutes.this will reset the whole system and keep in mind that any existing problems will keep arising. good luck and thank you for choosing

1997 Ford Light Duty F-250 Problem: Passenger rear brake light / signal light Brake light is intermittent. Signal works most of the time. Emer. flasher is intermittent. Center & left side work fine....

It appears that you may have an intermittent earth connection between the globe sockets and the vehicle body.
First, check how well the metal base of the globe fits into the socket. If it is a bit loose remove the globe, squeeze the sides of the metal socket with some pliers so that the globe fits snugly in the socket. If it is still not working correctly, check the earth wire that runs from the globe socket and any connectors in the wiring loom near the Light Assembly as well as where the earth wire is attached to the body. Remove, clean and re-attach securely if necessary.

Put new starter on 1997 Ford F150 Truck and the starter clicks but does not start and ground wire is hot

Sounds like an intermittent Earth connection. Check all the battery and earth leads where they connect to the Battery, Engine, Starter Motor and Body. If possible disconnect, clean and reconnect.
