2000 Chrysler Town & Country V6 3.3L 2WD will not start. Was driving in high heat and engine died. Now it will not start. Check engine light was on before it died. However, is off now and there aren't any codes to retrieve. Is getting fuel, no spark. Changed plugs, wires, and coil. Still no spark. What else can I chack?

Actually, if the car's computer memory was not 'cleared' by a scanner, there probably are still codes stored in it.

Fuel: OK
Spark: none

If you changed the plugs, wires, and coil that was a good start.

However, the crank sensor could have gone bad, causing the no spark condition.

Try that next.

If there still is no spark, then it could be the ignition module that powers the coil.

Also, if you turn the ignition key to on, and the check engine light does not light at all, the ECM (or PCM) is bad and has to be replaced.

Wish you luck on this one.

    Where is the CPS located?

    The Crank Position Sensor:

    CKP Sensor
The crankshaft position (CKP) sensor generates a magnetic pulse signal when the engine is cranking or running. This signal is used by the powertrain control module (PCM) to detect the crankshaft position of each cylinder.

Engine speed is a very important input to the PCM. Crankshaft speed and position are the basis for many calculations made by the computer. Crankshaft position values are transmitted to the computer by pickup coils also known as Permanent Magnet (P/M) generators, Hall Effect sensors or optical sensors. The Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) also known as engine speed sensor is typically located in proximity to the crankshaft.

In addition, the PCM uses the CKP sensor in conjunction with the camshaft position sensor to calculate and perform misfire diagnostics.

Hello! My questions are meant to establish a base for trouble shooting...They may sound simplistic and are not meant, in any way, to insult...

How do you know that there isn't spark? Did the temperature gauge rise above normal prior to the engine quitting?

Send a comment with information...However there is a component you can check...It's the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor...Is screwed into the block near the fuel rail...Has a two wire connector...Wire colors are...Tan/Black...And Black/Light Blue...It is a variable resistor...When temperature is high...Resistance is low...Temp. low...Resitance high...Disconnect the connector and inspect it for broken/frayed or loose wires...Using an ohm meter...When engine is cold...Read across the two pins...Should read around 3,000 ohms...If it reads in the neighborhood of 200 ohms it is defective...And the cause of the problem...
Let me know what you discover............Guru............Saailer

Hello! The ECT sensor, if defective, will give the symptoms that you described...Please tell me what you found in my solution that caused a rejection?

There wasn't a spike in engine temperature. May be a coincidence that it was a hot day. There is no spark because I checkef for spark.

Hi! Please check the rotor, the rotor may be damaged that can cause no spark to the plug wires. You will have to replace the rotor for it to work. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Have you checked the cap and rotor if its damaged? This may be the one causing a no spark issue.

Well first it should only restart in park or nuetral, any check engine light on? May be fuel pump if not. Listen for pump running in fuel tank. Should run at key on for a few seconds. If check engine light on, it should be scanned for codes, possible crank sensor
