Question about 2004 BMW 3 Series
Even with the key in the lock the central locking does not work. I'm only able to open the drivers door. The car starts and I'm able to drive it. My car key has the BMW logo in the middle. What has caused the problem and what should I do to get it fixed? Can I fix it myself or do I need to take to BMW?
there is a motor placed inside the doors for the operation of the central lockin system. when you open the door by key this motos is activated and all door locks are released. your problem may because of this motor is failed.
cause of the failure
1.the wire going to the motor may be chopped off.
2.the junction box connecting the wires may be damaged.
3.fuse may be blown out.
4.motor itsef damaged.
so please check weather power is coming to the motor using multi meter. if the power is not coming to it then the problem is with the wires. if the power is coming to it then problem is with the motor.
i suggest you to take to BMW because you need to remove the door pannel its better if they do it.
