Question about 2004 Ford Excursion
It depends on how well you take care of it and if you service it like your supposed to. I've seen these get 4 or 500,000 miles on them before finally going dead if they are properly maintained and driven.

Testimonial: "Thank you. I don't know if the prior owner took care of it, but I will. Started out with a diagnostic, tune up and oil change. Needs some brakes, but so far that is it. Phew! I hope we have this for at least 100,000 mile."
Diesel engines are renowned for longevity when properly maintained and cared for. Any vehicle is a machine composed of multiple systems, just like a human body; if you take care of the systems and maintain and replace parts as necessary, there is no finite life on your vehicle. Over-the-road truckers frequently get a million miles or more on a truck engine; when the motor dies, they transplant a new engine into the existing chassis and "keep on trucking"! The cost of retrofitting a new powerplant is far less than acquiring a whole new vehicle - it's simply a matter of how much new car do you want every few years....
