TURN THE IGNITION KEY TO RUN POSITION.YOU CAN HEAR FUEL RUNNING IN FUEL TANK. MAKING A WHIRLING NOISE. IT WILL RUN FOR 3 SECONDS THEN TURN OFF. MAKE SURE YOUR RADIO OFF NO NOISE AROUND YOU CAN HEAR IT RUNNING IN TANK.IF NOT CHECK FUEL PUMP FUSE AND RELAY.YOU CAN ALSO USE A FUEL PUMP PRESSURE GAUGE.HOOK IT UP TO TEST PORT.FUEL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 35 - 45 PSI.

Honda 2004 civic turns over but wont start. starter fluid gets it going but doesnt stay cranked.. help

Hi Tara,
I would crack the fuel line at the fuel rail and crank the engine, if you have fuel, you know the pump is working. If you have no fuel, check for power at the fuel pump. If there is power at the pump, you will probably need a fuel pump. Let me know if that helps, thanks.

Replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. It stopped working. Replaced fuel pump again. It stopped working again. Not drove at all after 2nd. pump replacement. ?????

Do you have 2 fuel tanks? If so it could be the Tank Selector Switch. If not there could be a short sending to much current to fuel pump.

I don't know where the electric fuel pump or relay are located.Frank

FUEL pump yes in the Fuel tank but which relay no
But find the feed wire going into the tank and test with a test light1 wire should be earth and the other should be alive (with ign key turned to on ready to start) ........if this so then you should be able to hear the pump working ..but it dosent mean its getting fuel to engine ...so turn it off
take off the fuel pipe to the fuel rail and turn on the key again Is fuel coming out (yes good) if no then get under the car and on the chassis some where you will find a fuel filter on the fuel pipe, take it off and replace it as if the pump works and no fuel comes out the filter id no good.............if pump not working and no feed to wires to pump then it might be either a fuse or relay????????????.
Let me know how you get on . Ron

Fuel wont flow

You likely have a bad lift pump in the tank. You are working on the fuel pump on the fuel rail right? This vehicle has two fuel pumps one low pressure and one high pressure.
