Question about 2002 Ferrari 360

2 Answers

Have a 1999 Ferrari 360. The suspension light comes on after 10 minutes of starting the car from cold after which the throttle response becomes jerky especially when starting from stationary at the traffic lights. After the car is warmed up, throttle control and reponse are smoothed and the car becomes easier to drive with the suspension light remaining on all the time. Had the suspension sensors changed but still lights up everyday making it difficult to control the throttle and drive smoothly from stationary until the car is fully warmed up. The other day, the engine light, the F1 gearbox light, the ABS light and the ASR light and the suspension light all lit up at the same time. After turning off the engine and restarting and driving off, the ABS light, gearbox light and ASR lights went off but the suspension light and engine lights stayed on. Switched off engine again and restarted, suspension light went off and stayed off but the engine light is still on. Worried about some serious fundamental engine/software/sensor problems. Thanks Henry

Hi,
I used to work on Ferrari's in Palm Beach Florida. I know how tempting it is to panic about this but; I think you will find that removing the negative battery post and allow the onboard computer to reset will help you in one of two ways. This procedure will either reset everything and allow you to simple move on after reconfiguring the radio or it will make the cars computer do what's known as 'throw a code' Either way please take the car to a reputable repair shop [ as you know - asking around in the shop will help you locate the best guy for this job] and once you locate a great technician, [ always demand he work on your car too] have them test with the hand held computer. This will allow you peace of mind and keep you from throwing money down the tubes looking for a cure. Something as small as a roach can get into the electronics and do a lot of temporary damage so please try this and let me know how it goes.
I do hope you get your car back on track.

Thanks
Gary @ Fix Ya

The best recommendation I can give you is take the vehicle to an Auto parts store and ask them to use the Code reader to tell you which fault code it has stored. The other option is to take it into a shop and have them connect it to a Diagnostic computer. Your having too many faults and problems to isolate this down to a single repair response.

Yes, you have a Engine/Software or Sensor problem that needs to be addressed. Use a Code reader to identify the fault.

2004 Prarie 360 4x4 idles fine .but when it gets half throttle it starts to miss like it has a rev limiter. ..just like when you go in reverse and have to hit the over idea button.

sounds like a fuel /air problem. It only shows at low revs because the requirement is met as there is no great pressure on the fuel delivery system but as revs rise and the fuel delivery becomes critical misadjustment of the system causes it to miss. You need a ferrari man to check this out.

Ferrari 360 will not rev above about 1500 rpm. Cold weather around 40 degrees F, but even after the car idled for 10 minutes warmed up to 200 degrees F engine temp the car would not rev above 1500. When...

without my greasy hands under the bonnet its hard to say but dont be scared of it just because it say ferrari on the front its still made by fiat and uses a lot of common parts ,now what i would do here is to test the mass air flow sensor with my automotive tester to see what happening and if the voltage is varying as it reved up before i start to even think about changing anything ,if this sensor is faulty then its not measuring the right air flow which will not allow petrol to be injected through the injectors hence its not picking up and i think it may be the cold weather thats affecting the sensor in some way ,remember warming up the engine will not make the sensor warm as it still has cold air being drawn in through the inlet pipe

My 1999 Ferrari 360 Modena battery is dead. I haven't driven in over a month. Should I change the battery or jump start it?

Oh how I wish I had such a problem. You should jump start it and let it run or drive it for a half an hour or so then park it and see if it starts again in the morning. If the battery is dead again you probably need to go ahead and replace it.

Being a V8 you obviously have one cat converter to serve per cylinder bank, you also have one 02 sensor and one pyrometer per cat converter, that slow down signal could have several meanings, either you have a faulty pyrometer or 02 sensor, a damaged cat conveter or even a fouled spark plug, best thing to do is have it put on a scanner and see what fault code comes up.

Need to find ECU reset switch on 04 Ferrari 360 spyder

Open the bonnet area, you will find the master switch on the upper left area, turn it OFF (right). After one minute, put the ignition in POS 2 without starting the car, leave for 30sec, start the car BUT leave idle for 10 minutes.

I got a 1999 ferrari 360 modena and im trying to figure out how to fix the door handle... can u guys help me out??

Hi I had a similar problem on the passenger door, when I lifted the handle the door would not open from the inside. The problem I had was that the wire running from the handle to the lock had become unclipped. This was a very easy fix....if you remove the hand rest panel behind the inner door handle( it just unclips) then you can see the pull wire, with my problem a plastic bracket had unclipped from the handle it only needs to be reattached to the handle and the problem is fixed.

Check engine light just went on..

You need to have a code scanner hooked to the car to find out why and what is causing the light to come on. If there is an autozone near you , take it there and tell them the engine light is on and you need to find out why. Takes about 30 seconds to have it done.
Because anything can cause the light to come on.

99 hyundai accent starts sometimes. not battery

ok when the check engine light comes on that usually indicates a engine malfunction...what you can do is go to your local autozone and they can do an OBDII test for free..my bet says it is the cam or crank sensor.. DO NOT SHUT THE CAR OFF AT AUTOZONE..LOL

Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.0 litre petrol. Starts from cold (stood overnight). Twelve minute drive to work - slowing down at lights etc engine stalls constantly. No problem re-starting. Pull into a layby...

Same problem for me. The car would idle at about 2500 when started from cold and about 3 miles on would not idle at all, resulting in the revs dropping off when changing gear or stopping. Also rather jerky in top gear unless thrashed - numerous trips to the garage for air idle valve, injectors etc. but still a problem! Have just found out that GVs are a bit prone to carbon build up in the throttle body - mine was almost blocked - it now feels like a different car.
