I input the security code three times wrong, and the display shut off and never gives me chance to input security code again. I do have the right code now but I don't know how to reactivate my anti-theft system to let me input security code again.

Try resetting the ECM. You should be able to get Auto Zone or O'Rielley's Auto Parts to use their Code machine to reset it or try disconnecting the Negative battery terminal for 1 min then reconnecting it.

i think my ECM is locked so it never allows me to try any more. If the code machine in auto zone can really help me unlock the ECM, then I dont have to go to the dealer to reset it ,right?

  • James Young Jul 12, 2010

That is correct. If the reset will unlock the ECM then the code machine at Auto Zone can reset the ECM for you and it won't cost you anything. They'll do it for free in most cases.

  • wilchen90092 Jul 12, 2010

another expert told me that a tool named "MB991496" is needed. Normally, will they have this kind of tool? If they don't, how should I find a place that has this tool?

  • James Young Jul 12, 2010

I would try just getting them to reset the ECM with the Code machine they have or try resetting it yourself by removing the Negative Battery Terminal for 1 min then replacing it. If resetting the computer doesn't work it will take the computer they have at the dealer.

  • James Young Jul 12, 2010

Also, if this tool was available to the general public then every car thief around would have it so they could stay in business so it is highly unlikely just anyone could order it.

Hi,

Disconnect the battery for 3 min, then reconnect and this should allow you to reinput the security code again.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need more information.

Thanks

Does the security lamp show up on the dash?

    Hi,

According to the manual for this type of alarm system which is in your vehicle, you have now locked out the alarm system and it will not come back on line until the ECU module is unlocked by a Mitsubishi dealer who will have the Data II handheld tool specifically for this alarm system to unlock it.

Unfortunatly you will need to get your vehicle to a Mitsubishi dealer so that this can be done.

  • Jason Maurirere
    Jason Maurirere Jul 12, 2010

I can give you the overide code but you MUST input it to the precise way that I tell you, or it will shut your whole vehicle system down and then the only way you can get it rectified is through a replacment of the main alarm ECU, and reprogramming of it......this would be very expensive.

Do you think that you could do this?

Let me know and I will give you the information you need.

  • wilchen90092 Jul 12, 2010

I think this is the problem, but is it possible to take my car to the auto zone to use their code machine to reset my ECM? Since the closest dealer is still far away from me.

  • Jason Maurirere
    Jason Maurirere Jul 12, 2010

Well contact them and ask them if they have the following tool:

MB991496: this is tool required or MUT II

  • wilchen90092 Jul 12, 2010

If the auto zone can use their code machine to reset my ECM, does it help unlock ECM? And if I take to the dealer, how much is it about gonna cost?

  • Jason Maurirere
    Jason Maurirere Jul 12, 2010

I can't give you a cost to do this but I can give you time frame and it shouldn't take anymore then 1.5hr to do.

Yes if they have the handheld tool I have mentioned they can unlock it.

  • wilchen90092 Jul 12, 2010

is there any other place that will possibly have this kind of tool? Since I am not sure if the auto zone can provide this, I just want to have more options if auto zone cannot sole this problem.

  • Jason Maurirere
    Jason Maurirere Jul 12, 2010

If you contact Autozone and they don't have the tool, just them if they could tell who or where locally you can take it too, so that you can get this problem solved.

Unlock theftlock on 98 oldsmobile intrigue after several attempts

You need to read the instructions in the 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue Owner's Manual. Yes, you must now wait an hour. The first time that "INOP" will display is if you have tried it eight times and failed. After you wait an hour, you will only get three chances to get it right before INOP will be displayed again.

Radio locked no code

Unlocking the Delco Radio Theft-Deterrent Feature After a Power Loss

If you know the code that was used to lock the radio then use the following instructions from the owner's manual to unlock the radio.
Quote:
Enter your secret code as follows; pause no more than 15 seconds between steps:
1. Turn the ignition on. LOC will appear on the display.
2. Press MIN and 000 will appear on the display.
3. Press MIN again until the last two digits agree with your code.
4. Press HR until the first one or two digits agree with your code.
5. Press AM-FM after you have confirmed that the code matches your secret code. The display will show SEC, indicating the radio is now operable and secure.

If you enter the wrong code eight times, INOP will appear on the display. You will have to wait an hour with the ignition on before you can try again. When you try again, you will only have three more chances (eight tries per chance) to enter the correct code before INOP appears.
If you don't know the code that was used to lock the radio then you will have to use the dealer's unlock procedure as follows. The dealer code changes over time - the one listed is current as of this posting. If it doesn't work try 08359 or search the forum for messages with a more recent code.
Quote:
1. Press and hold presets 2 & 3 for about 10 seconds until the first three digits of the display code are displayed.
2. Write the numbers down.
3. Press the AM-FM button, write down the next three numbers.
4. Call 1-800-537-5140. When asked, enter dealer code 202108, press the * button, and enter the six digit code from the radio. You will get an unlock code, write it down.
5. Go back to the car, press the HR button and set the first two numbers, press the MIN button and set the next two numbers, then press the AM-FM button. The display will show SEC, indicating the radio is now operable and secure.

To remove the code, repeat step 5. you should see --- on the radio face indicating the code is now out of the radio."

2000 Chevrolet Lumina Unlock radio code

If you have the security code it's easy. The code is something that either you or a previous owner entered. If you don't have the security code a trip to the dealer will be in your future.

Unlocking the Theft-Deterrent Feature After a Power Loss

Enter the code as follows; pause no more than 15 seconds between steps.

  1. Turn ON the ignition. LOC will appear on the display.
  2. Press MN and 000 will appear on the display.
  3. Press MN again to make the last two digits agree with your code.

  5. Press AM-FM after you have confirmed that the code matches the secret code you have written down. The display will show SEC, indicating the radio is now operable and secure.

Entering the incorrect code eight times will cause INOP to appear on the display. Wait an hour with the ignition in the ON position before you try again. When you try again, you will have three more chances (eight tries per chance) to enter the correct code before INOP appears.
Deactivating the Theft-Deterrent Feature

Enter the code as follows; pause no more than 15 seconds between steps.

  1. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON.
  2. Turn OFF the radio.
  3. Press the 1 and 4 buttons together. Hold them down until SEC shows on the display.

Re setting the radio on my VW Golf

heres what u do , switch radio on , safe appears in radio display , followed by 1000 approximately 3 seconds later , input the security code found on the radio card using the station preset buttons on the radio , Button 1 corresponds to the first number in the security code , 2 is the second and so on . press the applicable button repeatedly until the desired number appears in the display , ( press button 1 three times if the first number is 3 ), when the entire code has been input and appears on the display , press the right side of the seek button for longer than 2 seconds until an audible signal is heard , ,,, if you do not get this procedure correct , in 2 attempts , the radio will lock up for 1 hour before you can try again .. if this happens , leave the radio on for minimum 1 hour without touching it , after that time you may try again ..
