Check the oil sending unit, on changing the oil filter the old filter has to be maneuvered up and turned sideways again through a space between the engine and body. It happens this is where the oil sending unit is located and if it is struck hard enough it will break and leak oil directly on the engine pipe which will smoke and cause black soot to be on everything under there. It only takes a few drops. It is hard to find when it begins but if you reach under there and put your finger on the sending unit up near the metal you will find the problem. another possiblity is the rocker covers are loose causing oil to leak onto the exhaust manifold

Sounds to me like oil got spilled onto the engine and exhaust manifold. I had to get an oil filler extension to keep that from happening when I changed the oil in my '96. Otherwise; No matter how careful I was, some oil always got spilled and then it would be a few days of driving and some smoking before it all dried up.

Have you looked things over carefully under the bonnet?

Have you looked things over carefully under the bonnet for evidence of a BP event.. Oops! I mean evidence of an oil spell?

1995 nissan quest radiator fan went out going up hill and smoking

Smoking from where? Under the hood, the pressure exceeded the rating of the radiator cap and the coolant was blown into the recovery tank. It may have fillled the tank and sprayed coolant on the engine making it smoke under the hood. You may have blown a radiator or heater hose, again if the smoke was coming from under the hood. If it was coming out of the tail pipe, you may possibly have blown a head gasket.

Smoke under hood from drivers side

Possible spilt oil on exhaust manifold. Open hood, check oil level , make sure its full and take vehicle back to where you had the oil change done and have them recheck everything to make sure all is tight . And ask them to please clean any mess or spill they may have caused.

95 camaro. grinding sound (metal on metal) comming from under hood. sounds like the AC pulley. Ac now blows hot air and smoke comes from pulley

Sounds to me like the bearing is out on your ac unit. This is a process unless you know what you are absolutely doing you may want to take in to a mechanic to get worked on

Smoke is coming out from under my hood...checked antifreeze and oil so it fine

white smoke usualy tells about a leakage in the cooling. check that. dont forgett to refill. get it repaired or DIY. attention: could be really hot.

if it smells like fuel, a fuel line is broken. then dont drive any more since it can catch fire.

if the smoke is not white, go to the repair shop instantly.

My 95 camaro v-6 3.8l has an oil leak. It is spraying oil onto the inside of the hood and engine compartment. I can't visually see where it is coming from. Any ideas???????

A "spray" is not a leak.. That sounds more a like an Oil Sending Unit .. Peep near the oil filter and look for a screw-in thingy with wires ( or wire ) goin to it.. Its unther the car near the front of the engine withing 6 inches of the oil filter
