Question about 2001 Pontiac Montana

Need help locating TEV (AC problem)

Does anyone know where the front AC Thermal Expansion Valve is on a 2001 Pontiac Montana? It doesn't appear to be anywhere in the engine compartment, and I'm hesitant to start taking apart the interior unless I know for sure it is inside close to the evaporator.

It does not have one,it has a orifice tube, and it is located right behind the cruse control servo,on the fend well,it is where the two lines come together.Remove the nut,it is in there, where the line is swelled. If this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you.

It is my understanding that in 2001 GM converted over from the orifice tube to using TEV's. I have looked in the area behind the CC servo and didn't see anything but a solid high pressure line but will check again.

Ok,,then it is what we call a h block ,it is where the ac lines go into the firewall, remove the ac lines, and that is it,you will be looking at it,two allen scews(most likely) hold it to the evaporator.Let me know if this was helpful, thank you

I was not able to get back to this job until this evening. And yes it does have the H-block style TEV. It is accessible from the engine compartment on the firewall. Just wasn't easy to see or get to as there is limited room due to heater hoses and vacuum lines. Once I removed the single nut in the middle, the AC lines slide out revealing two hex bolts the held the H-block to the evaporator lines on the other side. Thanks again.

Where is the expansion valve located on the 2004 KIA Sedona

Kia Sedona expansion FRONT valve located under dash, behind glove box, fan and coil. Evacuate freon first. Disconnect Freon lines from firewall., Lay right front seat back to flat horizontal position and lay on top or totally remove the seat for easier working access. Remove under dash cover, fan, glove box, coil housing, remove coil mounting bolts, remove old expansion valve. (Inspect old valve, if debris inside, blow out coil before installing new valve. If visible debris best to consider replacing REAR expansion valve and DRIER/FILTER in front of radiator too and blow out all lines and coils while servicing.) Use compressor oil to lubricate "O" rings on new FRONT or REAR expansion valve, install valve bolts, reinstall coil bolts to FRONT firewall or REAR frame, reconnect freon lines to firewall in engine compartment. Evacuate AC system, install freon (35 1/2 ounces, nominal 3 pounds), check system for leaks, check for proper operation, enjoy.

Rear AC blows but front doesn't blow at all. It just all of a sudden quit working today. Also when the AC was working up front the car would act like it was going to stall out and has actually died on...

Sorry no quick fix here as this gas is highly toxic and poloutes the ozone layer so take vehicle to a specialist AC garage who can then vacate the system and then check the front ac unit expansion valve or the restrictor valve if you call it that

Did you replace the expansion valve?
Also try adding just a little more freon and see if that makes a difference....is there a sight glass you can view with the system activated to be sure you have it completely air free?

CHECK THE HIGHT OF THE HEATER MATRIX IN THE CAB , IF ITS HIGHER THAN THE FILLER/EXPANSION TANK. THEN ITS AN AIR LOCK, LOOK FOR THE HIGHEST PIPE AND SEE IF THERE IS A BLEED VALVE, IF NOT TAKE BOTH PIPES OFF THE MATRIX FEEDS AND FLUSH OUT TO SEE IF IT IS BLOCKED, AND RECONNECT LOWEST PIPE FIRST AND FILL SYSTYM TILL WATER APPEAR FROM TOP AND RECONNECT RUN MOTOR, AND KEEP TOPIN UP

Where is the thermal valve for the ac located on

Not shure what you mean by"thermal valve" There is a low preasure switch on the accumulator(big tank) that turns the ac clutch on and off,and shuts system down when to low on freon. there is also a high preasure switch that shuts down the system on the compresor. The only other "valve" would be the orifice tube or somtimes refered to as an expansion valve- this would be in the high preasure line, and can be found by looking for a spot in the line that has dimples. If this is the part you are trying to replace, you really need to take to a shop, as the freon must be recovered by law,and can be dangerous to handle if you don't know what you are doing.
