Usually the whole lense assembly comes out, via several "nuts" in the rear trunk area. Sometimes you need to carefully release some of the trim to get at all of the nuts, but then the whole nine yards comes away from the car, and the lights go in through the back of the assembly.

Change everything, while you're in there..., and this stuff rarely leaks, compared to the olden days.

Check Brake Light Bulbs: All cars have three brake light bulbs that create the brake light illumination affect. If all of these brake light bulbs fail no brake light operation will occur. I know what you're thinking, you might say all three brake lights at once? But in reality one brake light went out at a time and you did not notice. People only tend to notice something when they almost run into the back of your car to help persuade them to inform you the brake lights aren't working. Remove any of the brake light bulbs to confirm the bulb is ok or burned. After the bulb has been removed inspect the filament and replace if failed. If the brake light bulbs are ok continue to the next step.

Hello, Well there is not much more it could be unless you have a shorted wire or a burned fuse. I would normally think that the turn signal canceler was bad but the 3rd brake light will still work if that is bad so I would check all fuses and for bare or shorted wires.

I can't figure out how to get my 2003 Tundra taillight assembly off . I have removed the two bolts inside the tailgate area but it is still attached to the fender on the other side of the assembly . I have...

Unscrew the screws that are securing the brake light cover to the body of the Tundra. Pull the brake light cover off the body of the Tundra. Place the screws in the brake light cover and set it on the bed of the truck. Pull the burned-out light bulb out of the light fixture and discard it. Insert the new brake light bulb into the light fixture. Pump the Tundra's brakes to make sure the new bulb is working correctly. Replace the brake light cover on the body of the Tundra and replace the screws.

2005 xgl350 how do i replace the brake light?

hi friend,
step 1
Determine which lights are burned out by asking a friend to hit the brakes while you stand behind the car.
  • Step 2 Purchase the bulbs from an auto parts store or a large home and garden chain store. If you don't know what type of bulb to get, bring the burned out light bulb inside the store with you (see steps below to remove).
  • Step 3 Open the trunk of the vehicle. You'll notice two Torx screws on the side of each tail light assembly. Use your A-T15 Torx screwdriver to un-screw the assembly on the side with the burned out bulb.
  • Step 4 Slide the tail light assembly out toward the rear of the vehicle. Disconnect the proper connector for the brake light and pull out the spent bulb.
  • Step 5 Insert the new bulb.
  • Step 6 Slide the tail light assembly back into the car and replace the Torx screws.
  • Step 7 Replace the bulb on the other side with the other new bulb in the pack you purchased, since it will probably burn out soon as well.
    hope this helps u

Brake lights on tail don't work, upper one does.

There is a recall on the tail lights from GM. The problem I found on mine were faulty contacts that would burn out the bulb contacts in short order after replacing the bulbs. So even if you replace the bulbs they will only work for a short while before they burn out. Take it to a GM dealer to get the complete tail light assemblies replaced.

    Bulbs keep burning out

When you replace headlights in today's cars, DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS OF THE BULB!. Handle the bulb only with the packing material the bulb ships in, or with a clean dry cloth. The oils in your skin will cause premature failure of the bulb.

Also, check the sockets (car side) carefully to make sure they are not burned.
