Question about 1994 Chevrolet Corvette

Starter suddenly stopped working. Loud bang when

Starter suddenly stopped working. Loud bang when turning the ignition. Engine would not turn over at all so I replaced the starter. Ran for a couple of drives and similar symtoms brgan, hard to turn over but able to crank it. Now flooding. Figured out I can start it with a little on the pedal but strong gas smell. Do I still have a starter problem and what is causing the flooding?

It's most likely a timing problem, you may try too adjust it yourself; Loosen set screw on distributor and get a timing light. there also a chance it jumped a timing gear when you heard the loud bang..

Well, This sounds more like the starter may need a rebuild than anything else....The symptoms are there! The loud clicking is the solenoid (normal), and it should turn the engine over and crank at that point without you hearing the clicking. Since it does not crank, all you hear is the clicking..
There is an old "red neck" trick that could define your problem...When it just gives you "part one" and doesn't turn the engine over - STOP - NOW..crawl under the truck and try several taps on the starter frame ( NOT ON THE ROUND HOUSING ) with a metal hammer, now see if it starts right up...if this works, then the starter brushes are on their last bit of contact...AND this usually only works once or twice then its time for a rebuild...(don't ask how I know this works!!)
..If this works for you, then you have diagnosed your issue. Even if it doesn't work, my money is still on the starter!! Good luck...

Could be the ignition control module, if the module has no heatsink compound underneath it to dissipate heat, it will burn up or stop working. See if it is hot when the vehicle does not start. It could be many other fuel or ignition related components also !

When I turn the ignition key I get nothing from the engine, is this a problem with the ignition switch or the solenoid?

i would not rule out the starter-your best bet to eliminate the starter is to have someone bang on the starter as you turn the key to start it-if it starts great get the starter replaced-it is locking up-if it starts smoking or you smell something burning
that too is a bad starter-replace it
if neither of these work then have someone check the ignition(as long as its not the battery-just cause it has power doesnt mean the battery is not bad-it may not have enough power to start the vehicle)

I have a 1998 f-150 4.2l v-6 tryed to start it today it turned over and did not catch. turned key to try again it bumped the starter but would not turn the engine over. I tryed jumping it but I knew I had...

When you say 'it bumped the starter but did not turn the engine over' and 'it bangs the starter' it sounds like you mean it hits the flywheel and will not turn the engine. If it engages and does not turn the motor you need to try to manually turn both directions. Do not have the key in the ignition. If it won't turn you may have a froze up motor.
If you mean the starter spins freely but won't engage the engine - than you need a new starter. Let us know what you find out.

Turn the ignition on and motor will not turn over.

If battery has power, check if other things work or not. If you mean "won't turn over" does starter relay Click? If there is only silence its a different problem. Check the oil level, some cars will kill the ignition at any speed for low oil level. The timing belt would not stop the engine from cranking. Starter relays usually aren't fused. Check battery cables.
