Gauges not working, transmission too slow, battery discharged

With engine running, put a volt meter accross battery terminals. If it reads LESS than 13 volts, your alternator is bad.

engine running or not,,??????
bad battery
or dead charging system.
rusty battery terminals.
check battery voltage parked key in pocket, see 12.65vdc.
if lower , on a warm day the battery is discharged
or at 30F it must be.12.58vdc, rested, if not the battery is discharged
or battery is bad.
if discharged , then charge it.
and fix the bad charging system.
ok you jump start car.
and the battery voltage is 13.3 to 15vdc, if not the charge system is failing, or engine RPM below 800.
if running voltage is below 13.3v the charge system is failing running.

My car tires were the standard size P185 65 R14. They were recently changed to P185 60 R15. Will this cause any problems on this car?

Original tire
Sidewall: 4.73 in
Radius: 11.73 in
Diameter: 23.47 in
Circumf: 73.73 in
Revs/mile: 859.37
New Tire
Sidewall: 4.37 in
Radius: 11.87 in
Diameter: 23.74 in
Circumf: 74.58 in
Revs/mile: 849.54

Speedometer reading with new tire is 1.16% too slow.
When your speedometer is reading 60mph you are actually traveling 60.69mph.

I recently purchased a 2007 Ford Sport Trac Limited. I just realized that the 4 new tires installed by the dealership prior to my purchase are 235/60/18 but the recommended size is 235/65/18. Is this...

5mm is NOTHING to worry about,these are more expensive than 235/65/18,it means that they are thinner (closer to the ground) they MAY effect you speedo very slightly.but you will feel more secure.less sideways movement... geoff

My 2001 mitsubishi galant was traveling 60mph on the highway when the car lost power and came to a stop on the side of the road now it wouldnt start

Check the alternator fuse. It is either located in the fuse block under the hood and is a block type fuse or is part of the positive battery clamp. If you charge your battery and the car will drive for a while and quit again. You probably just have a blown fuse.

My geo 1996 i just install new alternatorand the sistem is charging 11,7 any help thx

Disconnect negative battery terminal and test the battery by itself.

A health battery should read above 12.6V +

===

A discharge battery will give the alternator a heavier load until the battery is full charge.

A low / depleted battery has lower resistance,

===

If you has a charger then it the battery slow charge at 2A over-night.

===

Tighten alternator belt and test system voltage next morning.
