I had the same problem. If your car is equipped with a/c the fan will turn on. If the fan does not come on then relays and fuses should be checked. If it does come on then we know that fuses and relays are good to go. The computer in your car tells the fan to turn on when the car gets to 223 degrees (about 3/4 the way to red between the lines). Have a mechanic check your computer to see if the comeputer is interpreting the data correctly and grounding the relay to allow voltage to the fan. Both a/c and temp triggers through the same relay and same fuse an thus do the same thing; however with the a/c on the fan will be on no matter what the temp is.

Check fuses and relays first, then the tempature sending unit if all of that is ok then its the fan motor

Cooling fan motor

There should be 4 bolts holding the shroud to the radiator. The fan motor can be removed from the shroud or bought as a complete assembly.

Why is my fan running all the time

COULD HAVE BAD COOLING FAN RELAY OR ENGINE RUNNING HOT.HAVE VECHICLE SCANNED TO CHECK ENGINE TEMPERATURE.MAKE SURE THERMOSTAT PARTIALLY STOP POSITION.OR RADIATOR AND ENGINE BLOCK NEED FLUSHING.BECAUSE ACCUMULATION OF RUST WILL RESTRICT COOLANT FLOW THROUGH RADIATOR AND ENGINE BLOCK CAUSING ENGINE RUN HOT.

Engine overheat

Check the coolent in the 97 cavalier it takes the orange coolent not the green stuff. If you do have green coolent in it you will have to flush the radiator a few times before adding the new coolent.

My front is samshed and how do i replace my radiator

It's pretty easy to replace. Take off the cooling fans. Three radiator mounting bolts on top. Disconnect top and bottom hoses. Disconnect overflow hose. Disconnect transmission fluid cooling lines. Disconnect coolant temperature sensor and coolant level sensor. Then the radiator just pulls up and out.

your radiator could be getting stopped up. also water pump could be weak. during summer though you have electric fans that should be working. need to check. you can purchase some stuff called water wetter by redline racing oil that will drop water temp 20 degrees which is substantial when a thermostat is usually 180 to 190 and boiling is 212.
