My engine light on and I can't pass to get my tags, I was told it was my 0/2 sensor that was bad and I replaced it and the engine light is still on.

O2 sensors are more of a message delivery for the ecm, replacing them, most of the time does nothing,if it said there was a lean situation,I would check the fuel filter, and fuel pump,if it said there was a rich situation,I would check the fuel pressure regulator, and give it a major tune up.

Passing smog

I doubt it as you have stated that it shows a calibration fault . This will be from the variable valve timing assembly on the cam shaft/s that is altering the valve timing. The timing chain may be faulty but you should be hearing it to be that bad.

MIL/Check Engine Light will not come on during start up to pass smog 2000 Ford Mustang

There should be a 10amp fuse in the fuse box for the instrument panel that powers the light. The light is grounded by the computer.
Have you checked the fuses in the passenger compartment ?

Most likely the problem is a bad O2 Sensor. In any case a head gasket will run about $20 and 6 hours of work to replace but I doubt very seriously that is the problem. The check engine light keeps returning because the problem is still present that caused it to activate in the first place. it doesn't matter how many times you reset it. I would start by replacing the O2 Sensor, assuming the vehicle has one. If it doesn't have an O2 Sensor then you need to look at the Map Sensor or Catalytic Convert as being possible problems. If the engine runs better after you clear the code though until the code returns then I wold bet the problem is the Oxygen Sensor more commonly known as the O2 Sensor. They run about $40 at Auto Zone.

The best thing to do is go to Auto Zone and get your Hyundai scanned for a DTC code. That would tell us which O2 sensor has gone bad. You have three O2 sensors and one of them has gone bad, the O2 sensor sends signals to the ecm to control the air fuel mixture so it will not run to rich or to lean which is causing you to fail the state inspection. Good luck and keep me posted on what the DTC codes are, be glad to help.
