Question about 1999 GMC Sierra
My battery went dead over night so I jumped started my truck to take it to Auto Zone to have the battery checked, on my drive there about a block from my house the speed ododmeter and fuel gauge stopped working and I noticed on some nights when I park my truck and get out I have 2 small lights that come on on the dash, one of them the high beam lights. The battery checked out good as well as the alternator and the starter. If there is a short where should I start looking for it at?
Yes, trace the wires fromt he high beam indicator light to ground.
Check for shorts in the wiring harness. This requires undoing the conduit, though which maybe should be left to an auto electric technician..
Also, if there is a short, it can be detected using an inductive ammeter around the positive or negative wire leading to the battery.
If it is above 0.2A then the system has a short somewhere.
