You should change and flush the system fluid and filter. this could cause the clutch packs to wear prematurely. different fluids have different additives designed for that system

I would drop the pan and refill the transmission with the right fluid,so there is no problems later.

Is there any way to adjust the transmission or how do you know its going

Go to a reputable shop, or ask friends or family to recommend one, spend the small fee and have them check it for you so that you don't spend your money in the wrong place.

I have a 1995 Mazda 626 I have been reading about the OD Light blinking and engine light on as I am trying to fix this myself without having to replace the tranny. ( I am a female) I have changed the fluid...

Hello littlemegmb, I am so sorry your having issues with your transmission.
My best guess with the info you posted.
1. I have to ask, because you didn't mention it. Are you sure you used the right fluid?
I am pretty sure that the 95 Mazda is supposed to have Dextron II, or higher. using the wrong fluid can cause some of the issues you are having, and can do perminent damage. If you are not positive that you used the right fluid, please call any parts store and give them the info on your car so they can look up the right fluid. Also, ask them how many quarts you should need when you change the fluid, I think it's around 7 quarts
2. If you know for sure that you used the right fluid, myself, I would let the car run for about 5 minutes, then check your tranny dip stick to make sure that you put enough fluid back in to the tranny, it needs to be checked while it's hot.
99% of the time, when a transmission is slipping, or, it wont move, it's low on fluid.
You do need to be mindful that it is very easy to overfill the transmission, which can lead to other serious issues.
3. One reason that the transmission seems to work better when it's cold, is, all the fluid has had a chance to drain down into the pan, but, once the car is started the fluid again begans to circulate leaving the level in the pan way to low.
I really, really hope that you find it's something simple like the fluid is way too low.
That is my best guess.
Good luck!

LOST ALL TRANNY FLUID

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds like you either lost your torque converter or the forward seal on the tranny most likely do to an inner pump problem. All this adds up to a transmission rebuild unfortunately.

Is it okay to use a full synthetic tranny fluid in my triptronic auto 1997 honda prelude?

I would recommend to ALWAYS use what Honda recommends for your vehicle. Sometimes using the wrong trans. fluid will cause damage.

1990 ford mustang lx 4cyl, auto blew out it's transmission fluid. what caused this? new seal and fluid, seems to be fine. is is okay now?

a Plugged vent on the tranny could cause this and an overfill of transmisson fluid could cause this, but without inspecting it would not know the cause or if it would strand you again?

My 96 cherokee loses power when turning corners to sharp or laying the boot in ..??? seems ok in nuetral and reving out .. doesn't miss a beat...?? I dont think it is fuel injection problem?? I could be...

Could be low tranny fluid or clogged filter. Check all fluid levels. Could be dirty plugs too. Take them out, clean them, regap them and put them back in and try it.

Gearbox over heating light comming on

The tranny may have an intercooler and the fluid levels could be low. Check your tranny fluid levels and inspect for leaks. This tranny cooler will be upfront and look like a small radiator.

99 avenger 2.5 v-6 tranny leaking

Question....do notice any leaks?

Sounds as if you have not serviced it with enough fluid. I am a hydraulic specialist and if you give me a little more info...I can help. Those trannys hold more fluid than you think. If you do not service them properly, you WILL have shifting problems and it will look like you are using up fluid. The torque converter is a pig for fluid......how much fluid was drained out?

And, I understand you DID NOT take anything else off but the filter correct?

Could need a tranny service. Be careful who you take it to. Special fluids and tools are required to do it. They could burn up the tranny if they do it wrong.

1992 bonneville transmisson won't engage

not likely possibly the cover for torque converter may be loose. if rattling coming from pass. side may be belt tensioner/or water pump. to check shut engine off remove serp. belt check water pump pulley for play by wiggling back an forth do same with belt tensioner. check trans fluid level while on level surface engine warm&running tranny in park. some gm cars have had problems with crank shaft pulleys making rattling noise also.
