Question about Chrysler PT Cruiser
Well, if the timing belt broke, and was replaced that solved a regularly scheduled maintenance issue.
The water pumps do go bad on cars over 80,000 mi. frequently.
So that's normal.
Also, the steering gear/rack being replaced is not unusual for a car that old, as well, and is unrelated to the water pump and timing belt.
Actually if the air bag light was one and the horn doesn't work you;re looking at a possible disconnection at the air bag module and/or air bag that is stuffed in a box behind the steering wheel horn cover. Also, there is a connection to ground behind the steering wheel beeper cover on the steering wheel.
On the pre-owned 2004 Chrysler pt cruiser I would maybe have those problems fixed the dealer or a local reputable repair shop, possibly taking the vehicle back to the one who did the rack and pinion and ask if the last service had anything to do with the latest 'gremlins' that you seem to be experiencing. I don't think that there is but you can ask.
Your car is less than 10 years old so the 'dealer' should have parts and know how to repair the latest horn and air bag problem without reverting to salvage yard parts.
