You need to get an auto repair manual for that specific auto and follow the instructions to the letter. You have to be able to find top dead center. This is when the number on piston, which is closest to the front of the car, is in on the top of the compression stroke, with both valves closed. The timing mark will be on zero. Follow the instructions.

there is not must have special tools to change the cambelt and retiming the engine.the camgears are conejointed in camshafts dont try anything!a haynes manual can help you but much better an experianced engineer must do this!the zetec engines are sophisticated with variable timing and complicated working procedure.

Change cambelt

assuming that you are asking about the timing belt?. if you are not mechcanically inclined, you might not want to tackle this one yourself. if you don't do exactly what needs to be done you will be doing damage and costing yourself a whole lot more than you would have "if" it would have been done by a professional.

Ford focus

It could be an engine mapping problem. There should be a fault code generated by this incident.Take your car to a ford dealer to have it checked out. No engine = difficult steering and next to no brakes, not nice.
