Question about 2000 Ford Focus

1 Answer

I need to replace the alternator fuse, but can't

Just replaced the alternator on my 2000 ford focus. The battery is good and charged but the battery light is still on, on the dashboard. We replaced the battery fuse and that seems to have helped with keeping the car from stalling as soon as I turn it on. Now we have to replace the alternator fuse but its somewhere under the engine. I just can't locate it exactly where it is!

You may want to have your charging system diagnosed. It is possible that your alternator quit working. And this particular alternator could be a bit challenging if you've never done it or have the know how. Good luck!

I got 04 ford focus good battery alternator but no charge also i check fuse box next t the battery and the other inside the car everything is good but my alternator still dont charge

1) check 10A fuse in the batt. juction box (eng. comp.) hot at all times.
2) check the large red battery wire to the alt. for good conn.
3) make sure the alt. is grounded properly
4) gray wire sent from the alt. to the PCM
5) blue wire sent from the PCM to the regulator (alt.)
6) small red wire power frorm the 10A fuse
if all checks out and still not charge replace the alt.

Trying to replace the alternator on a 2000 ford focus

Disconnect battery at negative terminal.

Remove all electrical connections by unscrewing or unfastening electrical wires.

Remove all bolts that hold the starter on after loosening the belt.

Get the replacement starter and installation is a reverse of the removal.,

Have a 2000 Ford focus zts battery light keeps coming on.

This is often mistaken as an alternator or battery problem. If you also are having a problem with the engine idling a bit low (less than 600rpm) when stopped and in Drive without the a/c on, it is likely a throttle body sensor issue. Because the sensor is bad, the engine idles lower than it should and will cause the 'battery light' to come on and go off seemingly randomly.
